so yea i want a new computer and i was wanting to hear yalls ruff estimation on what fps would be like on MC, JKA, and games like that so here are the specs of the computer im looking to buy what do you think guys and girls?

the mouse doesnt really matter but what FPS do you think id get?

decent typically priced for an already built unit.

You will be looking at mid to high range FPS on 2013 games so MC and JKA will play more than adequatly. JKA throttles FPS anyways but you will have goo enough FPS to play Crysis 3 MP on max settings if you want a benchmark.

The only negatives are the processor is a middling spec and would throttle any higher GPU you decided to put it, thus why they have probably stuck with a 640.

Oh and you could build the same system for much much less if you built it yourself rough estimate 30% - 40% drop in price depending on where you shop

yea but thing is its for my whole family to use (which is pretty small now since all my brothers and my sister have moved out except for me and my bro and lol my mom and dad)so my brother said he didnt want me to build a computer unless i had a degree in computers lol thats why i want to get this one and im not to computer savvy since one time i tried to take out the RAM sticks and ended up taking out the video card lol that was a long time ago and ive learned since then.I prob could do it if i got one of my brothers to help (specificly the one that got a degree in computer science and has built his own computer lol)

Well, I can freely say that it will be more than adequate for MC. However, I wouldn't be so sure about JKA. This however isn't the hardware's fault, as with my PC I can blow Minecraft away with 150 fps and the draw distance turned onto very far and all that, and some days struggle to even get 30 fps on JKA. You have to remember that my machine is built with the ability to get 60 fps on Ultra settings on most modern games with VSync on.

However, JKA from the way I see it was pretty terribly designed and actually doesn't handle new hardware very well because of this. So, you can put as much power into your machine as you want, but JKA won't get any better from it :\

Except for the fact that Windows 8 isn't that bad? I have to use it on my PC at work, and it's honestly not too terrible. Yes, it is lamentable that there is no longer a start menu packaged with the OS, but you can get third party software to remedy that, such as Classic Shell. On top of that, it has a less flashy UI and much faster boot time, making it a faster OS overall than Windows 7.

I know Windows 7 is a great OS, and I personally am not gonna just rush out to upgrade until Windows 9, but that does not mean that there aren't strengths to Windows 8 and should be hated just for hating's sake. It's an experiment that didn't pan out the right way, and I hope that they are able to find a happy medium when it comes to Windows 9.

I have 3 OS's, vista 7 and 8. In my experience 7 is the best and 8 rly isnt faster. If anything it freezes more and is a complete pain to find anything from word to files i dont use as often. If you love apps and a million desktop icons so you dont have to hunt for less used files then by all means use 8. And my 8 is my newest addition to the family.

However this is just my humble opinion. Take it with a grain of salt. Do what YOU want, if you know you like 8 then by all means be a heathen... but be a happy heathen :)

neither do I, and it's strange how graphics cards like to work their way around older games. I don't think it's JKA's fault that it was written with a QA3 engine, but I know a few of my old highschool friends (who always had better computers than me) did complain about playing JKA. Not necessarily a constant FPS loss, but during certain points of rendering or drawing. Which is why none of them played it with me But hey, the openJK team was looking for ways to improve the graphics (by implementing a new engine I think?) and optimize better for high performance systems.

Anyways, that's besides the point. That 640 sounds quite nice... I was thinking about upgrading, but $$ is an issue... and I'd have to buy a bigger / fatter power supply. So there's a handful of things I'd be looking into.

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I have no idea, but don't some games have compatibility issues with Windows 8? Again, I feel like I'm terribly wrong about this... but I can't recall if my neighbor was complaining about Windows 8 for some game, or some version of w/e else.

Ive had a great experience with gecorce cards so naturally i recommemd them. Just make sure u have a power source that can handle them and a surge protector otherwise u can fry yours like i fried mine ;_;

To be honest for what you wanted the first one was more than adequate. With building a PC from scratch unless you get an already seated and set up processor motherboard package you'll still have to setup all the BIOS settings and everything that goes with that. Its not difficult but it does require research and you can quite easily make your CPU unusable if you don't take precautions.

In answer to the earlier point about struggling with FPS in JKA.. its a game engine optimisation issue so not alot of chance to fix it... I mean its a very old game now. Lots of older games didnt even give you the chance to put vsynch on it was automatically enabled.

I get 50fps and im running an i7 and two gtx 660ti's.(which gives me 240+ FPS in most games released recently)

It will be cheaper to build yes... but if you just want an easy setup and something stable for the whole family that you don't really intend to dedicate to gaming go for one of your packages... but yeah Windows 8 is horrible... I would stick with Win 7 if at all possible. (but thats just my personal aesthetic opinion)

Best plan buddy. Theres no shame in not inderstanding it yet, i would still consider myself a neophyte when it comes to building pcs and i have very little understanding of programming (lol ask jaw) the only diff is a lot of my frienda and families are techy's so it usually isnt hard to get an answer for what i dont know.... until i go to college i which case my friends are bigger pc noobs than me D:
