hello all i have finally got the game on my own computer but i have a problem i can load the sing/multiplayer things but when i do it opens turns my screen black to open it then closes any suggestions ill greatly appreciate them

If you are running it on windows vista or 7, try launching the game as administrator or change the comparability mode to reflect windows xp sp3.

I have Vista, when I had a problem with UI, I updated graphics card (if I remember right) and started running as admin. Or just try running as admin :\

Check your DirectX. Click start and type dxdiag, run the diagnostics and wait for it to load. You should have version DirectX 11 as displayed on the System page. Keep clicking the Next Page button to check there are no problems on each page.

Grant yourself full security access to the game. Go into My Computer then C drive then Program Files - if you have a 64bit PC & OS this folder will be called Program Files (x86). Right click LucasArts and select Properties. Change to the Security tab. Click the Edit button. Click the Add button. Type everyone into the object names box. Click OK. Make sure the user everyone is selected in the top list and tick the Full Control check-box. Click OK.

There are also registry settings for this game. There can be problems if they do not have the correct security clearance, but I don't think they exhibit like this. If this doesn't work we could lower the security on those too.

Also rename your jampconfig.cfg to jampold.cfg in both the base and japlus folders.

I'm sorry, its impossible to solve an issue without further feedback.

Before you did the things I suggested was the game running without the screen, or is that as a result of the changes?

Is your computer and OS 64 bit?

When you say you don't see the screen, does that mean you don't even see the start-up image, or the main menu before you join a server? At exactly what stage does the screen go black.

Are you running the game in full-screen?

What is the model number of your graphics card? (use Google to search how to find this if you do not know.)

Have you installed JA+ ?

im 64 bit and no i dont have ja+ yet im trying full screen mode yes and when ever i launch the game it goes black wont do anything else

I'd say there's a 99% chance your driver doesn't support this game, but I won't know until I know the driver and whether it has worked here before.

We can try to change the settings so it runs in a window. Using My Computer go into C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\Base\[\i] and click on the jampconfig.cfg. Open it in notepad and locate the line saying seta r_mode "n" and change whatever number is in there to 4. Now locate seta r_fullscreen "1" and make that 1 a 0.

Try running that.

We can at least lower the registry security.

Press the Start button and type in regedit and run the registry editor.
Close any paths that may be open.
Now navigate to this tree: -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\LucasArts\
Right click LucasArts and select Permissions.
Click the Add button.
Type the name everyone into the object names box and click OK.
Select the user everyone in the user names list then tick the Full Control check-box.
Click OK, and close regedit.
