Hey all,

A great aspect of kor2 is its immense size and dynamic environment. It allows for tons of possibilities with movement and combat in general.

I think KR has the right idea about kor2 as a fun map by making it one of the most modded maps. There's a teleport to 3 different areas, we have a jetpack, and an openable duel throne room that is quite epic.

I would suggest going a step further...

Imagine there being a spawn for a disruptor rifle somewhere out there in the mountains, or perhaps in a secret room. I think it'd be great fun if people can get the rifle and retreat to the mountains to snipe others. I can see people reacting by going hunting for this person, creating a sort of cat-and-mouse game. I think it'd also provide an incentive for exploring and playing in the more distant reaches of the map.

If this were something that were to be implemented, I think it'd be ideal if the disruptor rifle weren't too easily accessible. Perhaps it'd take 20 minutes before it spawns again? Perhaps it's in a secret room guarded by Desann's? Perhaps you gotta do some trickery to get the spot with it, similarly to the jetpack?

Lemme know what you guys think! This isn't a yes/no situation, but more of a brainstorm session about possible things to get modded into kor2 or other maps that would spice things up/diversify the gameplay KR offers to its players.

If they were made in admin only accessible areas too only it would maintain order. *still holding out hope for a lambdashuttle spawn on taspir. I like the idea blab.

To build on what Yama is saying, maybe it's a teleportable room that you have to die to get out of, so weapons don't enter main combat. That way admins aren't getting asked to teleport people all the time. I love the idea of a more diverse area though.

i wish i wasn't lazy enough to do something cool, i feel like i could definitely bring something awesome to one of the maps

The server would greatly appreciate your time and talents.

This is an awesome idea; maybe we can have a guns zone of each map, thru a tele or something. Like you can get in and fight with guns but not back out except maybe a button on the door that /kills you or something.

I wonder if it's possible to maybe put the Force as a pickup or a zone or something. Maybe we could add that. Or perhaps like on the huge warehouse map, section off part of the map and make a tele for it, so the map isn't so big that you never run into any other players.

I always loved when higher admins would come on and spawn vehicles, weapons, etc.
It made the rest of the players go crazy too! A weapons area on each map would be sweet. Perhaps just give players in the guns area the option of a jetpack too... or maybe not because we still need some secrets...

I seriously think this should be done, it'd vastly improve the fun and diversity of our server! Especially with so much new traffic we are getting due to steam sales/new movie etc..

Exactly man there's all sorts of possibilities for spicing things up. The way I see it there's two questions to be answered here:

1) What exactly do we want to get entity-modded into a particular map?
2) Who is capable of entity-modding in KR and wants to volunteer their time?

Echoing Cf. Steak's idea in the map rotation thread, it'd be ideal IMO if we just have 1 or 2 maps with stuff entity-modded into it (like guns, force powers, etc.).

I mean I could mod Kor2 to potentially have sniper rifles I would just have to come up with a good plan to not have them abused since people seem to find ways to ruin the fun stuff :(

Idk how all those triggers work, but a few years back we had a t3_stamp map where they could press a crystal and go to a different map area with guns "enabled". Maybe something like that is possible but I'm not sure how the increase or trigger processing would affect the server. Might lag it.

Chiming in - if lag is the issue, I'd happily accept 56k modem online multiplayer rainbow six: rogue spear lag from 1998 for this.

*watches headshot, nothing happens, becomes headshot*

idk how that would be set up on Kor2 specifically since there's not really a good spot for a "guns only" area since guns require nice and open area's where the current main area is the only place that really fits the bill. Maps with two nice big area's like stamp that's a possibility. My concern is that people already complain about lag and guns aren't the most fps friendly things. Though idk the full impact it would have without setting it up and testing it. :)

One map I think would work well to have guns would be t2_dpred since it has several nice open areas that aren't connected. I just haven't tried anything past tests with the map since I feel like it would naturally have lag issues. I'm willing though to put effort into Kor2 or any map really to try and make something like this work as it would be nice to have cool things like this. ;)
I just need a plan since my time is more limited than it once was so I can't be randomly testing out random ideas on every map like I once could, but if there's a set goal I'm willing to try and make something work. (others could help to If they really would want).

I'm absolutely sympathetic to the line of thinking that a separate room is required for the shenanigans that guns might inspire. However, in the case of something simple like a sniper rifle, I don't think heavy precautionary measures like that are necessary.

The appeal of the sniper rifle is that its availability in the main map would cause specific types of player interactions, like sneakily sniping someone going wild in a lightsaber ffa for example. Restricting snipe rifle activity to an enclosed separate room sanitizes the whole experience to the point of blandness.

I'd really love to talk the ideas I've thought about (both in terms of what to put in the map as well as precautionary measures) with ya if you're open to hearing more Jammer. I'm interested in what you think is best so we can get some finally get some defined, concrete ideas.
