Okay firstly Qui-gon is a bully! Meetra just turned 17 and she's getting picked on. jokes aside

I don't know much about Qui gon except that he's one of the most underrated Jedi out there and I believe that. Meetra Surik is someone I believe to be Revan's equal or slightly stronger she has an incredible command of the force and is the key to its very destruction. Like Revan Meetra also went through countless sith assassins (stated to be the most elite among the empire) before going up against Sion, someone she had to beat 4 times before giving up and walking away and Traya the woman who brought the galaxy to its very knees with her incredible command of the force even stronger than Meetra's.

Qui-Gon Jinn

Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn was recognised as one of the best swordsman in the entire history of the Jedi Order.

Jinn was generally regarded as one of the best pure swordsmen the Order had ever seen.

It was stated that Qui-Gon Jinn is a better duelist than Anoon Bandara and was compared to Mace Windu.

Renowned for his skill with the lightsaber, Jedi Master Anoon Bondara is regarded by many of his peers and all of his apprentices as a role model whose combat prowess is unmatched in the Jedi Order. Bondara would disagree with this assesment. During his tenure at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, he spars with superior lightsaber duelists such as Qui-Gon Jinn and Mace Windu. Although he humbles himself when compared to their skill, Bondara's prowess is nontheless considerable.

Being better than Bondara is significant, because Bondara has provided a decent fight to Darth Maul.

By the time of The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn was still superior to his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi.

They had fought together before, and they knew each other's moves. Qui-Gon had trained Obi-Wan, and while the younger Jedi was not yet his equal, he believed that one day Obi-Wan would be better than he had ever been.

It was also stated that Jinn has mastered many fighting techniques.

Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber may not be as ornate as that of his mentor, Count Dooku, but true to his rebellious ways, he used it to master the same classical fighting techniques as well as untraditional combat forms from across the galaxy.

The Jedi activated his own greenbladed lightsaber and raised it fast to block Maul's sweeping blade. The lightsabers met with a bright flash of energy before Maul landed on his feet in a tight crouch. The pain in his leg was exquisite. Up close, Maul saw the Jedi was a big man. The Jedi shouted at the boy to go. Maul swung hard with his lightsaber but the Jedi blocked the blow. The Jedi shouted, "Tell them to take off!" As the boy ran for the Queen's ship. Maul lashed out at the Jedi again and again, but the Jedi blocked each blow. Maul was suddenly aware that the Jedi seemed to anticipate each lunge and jab, as if he knew how Maul would move before Maul himself knew. Maul drew from the dark side of the Force and began to move faster, increasing the speed of his lunges along with his footwork. The Jedi kept up with Maul, but Maul soon sensed... He's getting tired. Maul felt the pain in his leg become more intense. He became angry at himself for being wounded, used the anger to fuel the dark side, and directed his rage at the Jedi. Maul was certain he would defeat his opponent. He will fall heavily, like a monument. But the Jedi did not falter. As Maul spun and moved around the Jedi, he saw the Queen's starship lift off. He also saw the hoarding ramp was still extended. Maul leaped over the Jed, blocking his path to the rising ship, as their lightsabers continued to weave and smash into each other. The ship had just moved above their position when the Jedi leaped straight up and landed on the extended ramp, his lightsaber still blazing

The Jedi meets my first blow, blocking it. He has expected my flying maneuver.

If an opponent can read you, the fight is over. I don't like that the Jedi was perfectly prepared for my first blow. Within seconds, I throw away my usual combinations and strategies. This Jedi seems to know how I will move before I do.

But he cannot match my strength. I sense this. And I feel his surprise at this. Yet he does not let his puzzlement slow him down. I tell myself that this man has never met an enemy like me before, and it frightens him.

Your fear is justified. Prepare to die.

I accelerate my pace, calling on my anger to increase my power. My footwork has never been so brilliant. I use the shifting sand as resistance. My lightness and quickness will defeat this man, with his large body, his heavy movements.

But he is graceful, this Jedi. The sand doesn't see to hamper him. He is never off balance, no matter where or how I strike.

Our blows send shudders through my body. He meets my strength. Our lightsabers clash and sizzle. Dust and sand rise around us. I never lose my rhythm.

The Jedi calls to the boy, tells him to go back to the ship. The cowardly boy runs off. After I defeat my enemy, I will find the second Jedi.

But I must confess that this Jedi is a challenge. If I leap, he is with me. If I turn, he follows me. He meets my ferocity with his own. His lightsaber swirls and hums, and several times comes closer than I like.

It is because of my wound. It has slowed me down somewhat. It is almost imperceptible, but it is there. The Jedi has an advantage. I am not at my best.

This realization sends more rage pumping into my body. I am angry at myself, but I use the anger to fuel the dark side. I feel the Force come from the Jedi and I send it back to him, showing him that I, too, have a connection, and it is stronger than his. I launch a furious counterattack. I feel like the Jedi is beginning to tire, and triumph rises like a red mist before my eyes. I gain the advantage. I am winning. I will defeat him.

I have been surprised at his skill, but now I am confident of victory. I will savor each moment of this battle.

Even through his fatigue, his blows still have power. He is a large man with impressive strength. He will fall heavily, like a monument.

I feel a savage pleasure course through me. His weakness feeds my power. I drive him back, spin around when he parries, drive him back again. The dust chokes my throat, but I don't notice.

While it should be noted that Maul had a leg injury, I don't see this of being much relevance. Why? Jinn was a better duelist than Bondara, someone who gave Maul a decent fight.

The Twi'lek Jedi's leap, guided by the Force, landed him squarely behind Maul on the rear engine housing of the T- shaped bike. The action took Maul by surprise; he had not expected such a courageous, if foolhardy, deed.

Unexpected as the move was, however, Maul was still able to block the slash of the other's lightsaber with his own energy blade. He quickly activated the speeder's autopilot, then twisted around in the saddle, thrusting his weapon at the Jedi's chest. The Jedi blocked the blow and countered with another.

Maul knew the battle could not continue this way. The speeder bike's autopilot was not sophisticated enough to chart a safe course at high speed through the torturous windings of the surface streets. He grabbed the handlebar and jerked the speeder toward a docking platform on a nearby building, about thirty meters above the street. They shot by the skycar, which had slowed after the Jedi left it, and rose toward the shelf. As the ledge came within range of the autopilot's seniors, the speeder slowed, then settled down to a landing on the extruded slab of ferrocrete.

The Sith and the Jedi leapt from the speeder bike onto the platform to continue their battle. The dock-Ing ledge was only about ten meters by fifteen, barely enough room to maneuver in. Maul knew he had to dispatch the Jedi quickly, before Pavan once again vanished into the labyrinth of Coruscant's downlevels. He pressed the attack viciously, blocking and thrusting, the twin radiant blades spinning a web of light about him.

The Jedi was obviously a master of the teras kasi fighting arts, as well, judging by the smooth way he parried and counterattacked. Still, within the first few moments of the engagement, Darth Maul knew that he himself was the superior fighter. He could tell that the Jedi knew it, too, but Maul also knew that it didn't matter. The Jedi was committed to stopping the Sith, or at the very least slowing him down enough to let the others get away, even if it meant giving his own life to do so.

Maul bared his teeth. He would not lose his quarry again! He doubled his efforts, pressing the attack hard, hammering away at the Twi'lek's defenses. The Jedi gave ground, but Maul was still unable to slash through his guard.

Definitely not in the same class as her Master, the Twi'lek who had destroyed his speeder bike. He had been a worthy adversary. Not as good as Maul, of course, but that was to be expected.

Not only this but by the time of Naboo Maul's injury had healed and Jinn still contended with Maul for a decent amount of time, even when Maul had taken Qui-Gon to a location of his choice. It should also be noted that Maul only started winning on Tatooine because Jinn was getting tired, not because Maul was a better duelist.

Qui-Gon Jinn was a master of form 4 Ataru, however staying true to his rebel ways, he retooled it, going against the textbook nature.

Instead of relying on acrobatics which is usually typical of Ataru users, Jinn chose to rely on his strength more than anything, which allowed him to remain in fights longer than most Ataru users.

As a master of Ataru, Jinn often used physical strikes with his lightsaber technique, as seen here.



Qui-Gon was also a very adaptable fighter, able to fight a long time against Maul's saberstaff.
He was able to perfectly adapt to Xanatos whipping out a second lightsaber out of nowhere.

A second lightsaber was suddenly in his hand. Startled, Qui-Gon lost his focus for an instant. There was only one person to whom that lightsaber could belong. "And where is your new apprentice?" Xanatos sneered. So Xanatos had been responsible for Obi-Wan's disappearance. Now he knew it for sure. Xanatos faked a charge to the left, went right, then danced back to the left again. Qui-Gon remembered the move from the Temple. He easily blocked the blow.

Ex Jedi Aurra Sing also whipped out a second blade from no where, yet soon after she claimed Jinn and Obi-Wan were more than she bargained for.

Meetra Surik

Meetra Surik was a great lightsaber duelist and was a master of all lightsaber forms.

She managed to defeat Kreia, despite the fact that Kreia was more powerful.

Although Traya was more powerful, the Exile managed to defeat her in combat.

Lord Scourge was impressed by Surik's skill and wasn't sure who'd win out of the two.

He was impressed with how easily she had dismantled Murtog and his handpicked team.

Part of him wanted to leap into the fray: battling this Jedi would be a true test of his skills. He didn't know which of them would prove the stronger, but he was intrigued by the challenge.

This is impressive because this is what is said about Sourge.

As the Sith Emperor’s personal executioner, the grimly fatalistic Lord Scourge has personally killed more than a hundred Jedi–and ten times as many Sith. Even the most powerful members of the Dark Council avoid offending the man bearing the title “the Emperor’s Wrath.”

Meetra defeats a group of Imperial Guards. It should be noted that the guards were buffed by Vitiate's power while on a dark side nexus. The nexus would have also hindered Surik.

"We have to help Revan!" Meetra shouted, and Scourge turned to see that she, too, had just finished off her opponents.

What makes this more impressive is what is said about the guards.

The Empire's ultimate non-Force sensitive warriors, the Imperial Guard is a selfless army devoted to the Emperor and the Emperor alone. Clad in blood-red armor and wielding deadly weaponry designed to exterminate Force users, the Imperial Guard sweep across the galaxy at the Emperor's command, destroying his enemies both outside and within the Empire. When confronted by the Imperial Guard, the mightiest of Sith have laid down their lightsabers and surrendered to the inevitable death offered by a guardsman's electrostaff. Even members of the Dark Council fear the Imperial Guard, though many would die before confessing such a weakness.

Summary

Both are incredible duelists, however I do think Jinn has a solid edge when it comes to dueling abilities. His accolades and feats are just better.

Jinn was an incredibly powerful Jedi.

Along with Plo Koon and Tholme, Jinn collapses a cave.



He easily hurls Feemor while in a sparring session



He pulls Quinlan Vos and Obi-Wan Kenobi from a river with casual ease. This is impressive, because the river had enough force to pull the two Jedi down.



Jinn also has a great mastery and understanding of the force, as he does everything he does with such casual ease.

He's even mind tricked a hutt, a species known to be resistant to mind tricks.

It was time to pay a visit to Offworld Headquarters. Offworld did not try to beautify their Bandomeer office. The building, a black, windowless block, echoed the grim mines that surrounded it. Qui-Gon entered the center hall with its azurite-studded walls. The mineral was its only decoration. A Hutt security guard sat behind a black cube that served as a desk. His body rolled past the confines of the desk. He turned flat, dead eyes toward Qui-Gon.

"I have come to see Xanatos," Qui-Gon said.

"Move, wretch," the Hutt replied, bored. "Take your petty complaints to you immediate supervisor. There's no one here anyway. Xanatos is on an exploration trip to the northern mine quadrant."

The Hutt reached for a blaster. So much for corporate hospitality. Qui-Gon didn't move a muscle. He concentrated on the Hutt's greasy mind, pulling in energy from the Force.

"Perhaps I should wait in his private office," he said.

"You should wait in his private office." The Hutt repeated tonelessly.

"Take the restricted tube to Horizontal Thirty."

"Security controls should be lifted," Qui-Gon said.

"All security controls shall be lifted.''

His mastery and attunement to the force was so great, when he died he became of force spirit, something Yoda couldn't do until Qui-Gon taught him!

Yoda heard the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn from beyond the grave and the fallen Jedi led him on a journey of discovery. It was through this revelation that Yoda unlocked the secret of Force immortality.

Even Mace acknowledged Jinn's relation with the force.

The Force did not disagree. Qui-Gon had had a special relationship with the Force, and he had taught his apprentice well.

Meetra Surik

Meetra Surik was also an incredibly powerful Jedi, capable of advanced powers such as force wave.

Force Wave can stun Kreia's floating lightsabers.

She's used saber throw to knock a lightsaber from Vitiate's hand

In desperation, she hurled her lightsaber with a wild sidearm throw, guiding it with the Force to that it spiraled end-over-end to intercept the descending blade, knocking it from the Emperor's grasp and sending it skittering across the floor.

She's capable of killing people with one force push

As he fell to the ground, Meetra thrust her free hand out toward the next closest soldier, palm open. The woman flew backward, lifted off her feet and hurtled across the cave by the Force until she slammed into the rock face of the far wall. She slid to the ground, dead.

She's capable of destroying turrets with Force Lightning

As you pass through the Merchant Quarter, the defense turrets you saw earlier suddenly activate and begin spraying you with blaster fire. Demolish them with grenades, ranged attacks, and Force lightning, then continue on to the starport.

Surik also knows how to use Force Heal

One of the most important is Heal; apart from medpacs or the passage of time, it’s the only way to replenish your vitality.

It's also stated that the Exile knows how to sever force, however she's never used this in a serious lightsaber duel.

After he leaves to fight the Mandalorians in the early skirmishes before the outbreak of the Mandalorian Wars, she trains with other masters, including Vima Sunrider, who cautions the Jedi Exile to be mindful of her powers, particularly her aptitude for severing another's connection to the Force.

Surik's mastery was so great that she as well was able to become a force spirit

While both are likely similarly powerful, Surik does get a solid edge here, as she seems to be more willing to use the force more combatively.

Qui-Gon Jinn was incredibly strong, able to meet the strength of Darth Maul, the guy who could rip through a Wampa's torso. Wampas are creatures known to have tanked blaster fire and missiles.

Summoning whatever remained of his strength, Maul fired himself at the beast. Hooking his hands into claws, he plunged them through its fur, ripping into the soft tissue of its torso... ...Shoving his hands deeper, he sank both arms in up to the elbow, beneath its rib cage and into its thoracic cavity, groping until he found what he was looking for— the slick, pulsating mass of its heart. Maul grabbed it, laced his fingers together, and squeezed. The wampa’s heart burst between his fingers like a dense and fibrous flower."

He was also able to send Maul hurling and as seen above in the dueling abilities section he wrecks Xanatos with his physical strength.



Jinn was also a tank, able to take a lot of punishment and keep on going.

He survives this injury

The blade bit deep into Qui-Gon's right shoulder, driving him to the floor.

The Pirate chieftan's vibro-ax had slashed Qui-Gon across the back of his shoulders, down to the ribs.

He tanks a grenade like attack and does acrobatics seconds after.

The impact knocked turned the boulder into a bomb, shattering it into large pieces of shrapnel that seemed to fly at Qui-Gon in slow motion. Qui-Gon was hit in the chest. Badly. The impact knocked him backward, his lightsaber leaving his grip and flying meters away from him.

Qui-Gon pushed himself to his feet. The pain hit him, red and searing, and he'd been hit by a chunk of boulder in the leg as well. He called on the force to help his body respond, his mind to clear. The speeder was bearing down on him again. He leaped to avoid cannon fire and sommersaulted over the low flying speeder, striking down as he did so at the control panel.

He continues fighting after this

He hit Xanatos in midair. Their bodies connected like mountains of hard rock. There was no give to Xanatos' muscles, no yielding in Qui-Gon. The clash was titanic. Qui-Gon felt the shock of it move through his bones. For a moment, Xanatos gripped Qui-Gon's arm, forcing them to remain entangled.

Jinn also had impressive stamina, able to fight for an incredible amount of time. Even when exhausted, he did not stop or make a mistake.

The match was not timed. It would only end when one of them scored a blow. Exhaustion began to slow their moves, but they did not stop or make mistakes. He could hear the murmur among the spectators, wondering how long the two students could continue. He sensed more Jedi Masters arriving.

Tahl's face was a mask. She had gone deep within herself, past her exhaustion to a place of sheer will. Qui-Gon had never felt so tired. His arm muscles shook. His legs felt watery. They trembled. Still he did not stop or make a mistake.

Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were fighting flying beasts near a cave for hours, it eventually became nightfall

Near nightfall Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were still battling at the last entrance to the caves.

After running in the desert he fights Maul, only getting tired towards the end, as seen in the dueling abilities section.

Slowly, Qui-Gon deactivated his lightsaber. Obi-Wan watched, knowing his Master could still attack in a movement faster than the eye could see.

Meetra Surik

Meetra was capable of force speed

Perfect Force Speed early so you can avoid any close-combat enemy.

Meetra is able to walk on Malachor V without issue, yet this is what walking on Malachor V is described like.

She had faster reaction speed than Murtog

Even blinded by the flash of T3's lamp, they were disciplined enough to react by unleashing a volley of blaster bolts at the last known location of their target. Unfortunately for them, Meetra's reactions were quicker than theirs.

Summary

While in good shape, Meetra is simply outclassed here. Jinn has better strength, better durability and similar/better speed.

Physical Abilities = Qui-Gon Jinn

Conclusion:

This battle would be extremely tough. While Jinn is a better duelist and has better physical capabilities, Meetra uses her force abilities much more combatively. The fight would likely start as a lightsaber duel, however Meetra will find she's outclassed and likely resort to force abilities. Much to Meetra's surprise, Jinn would endure the first wave and charge at her again with his blade. Forced to use her force reserves on force augmentation to keep up, I find it unlikely she'd be able to find another counter offensive with her use of the force, forcing her to engage in a lightsaber duel once again. Meetra wouldn't be easily beaten, but Jinn would eventually get through her guard and cut her down.

In the end, I favour Jinn's superior physical abilities and dueling abilities over Meetra's superior use of the force.
