With debates comes two of the biggest known military governments duking it out, with only one winner to come out top.
The Republic vs The Empire

The Republic is made up of thousands of clones, some branches of military allowing room for better training and equipment. They fight for the Republic, but is also under the command on some occasions, by Jedi generals and commanders alike. Their widespread influence in the galaxy makes for a well respected type of protectors for the innocent against the predatory, the CIS.
Weaponry

The DC-15 is the standard issue Republic Carbine available to all soldiers. Though not technologically remarkable, it is fairly cheap to produce and ammo is easy to obtain.
The DC-17 is the big brother of the DC-15, and is used for heavier combat. It's wider blaster bolts can blow chunks away from most material, and the extended ammo allows for supressive fire or just extra target acquisition. It's weight can be inconvenient, but especially trained troopers can use techniques to reduce weight.
The DC-15S is the standard sidearm. It's primary function is to serve as a reloading buddy, per say. When out of the primary ammo, operatives will drop the weapon or set it aside and can use that to finish off opponents. It doesn't have any noteworthy stats, except that it has a fair amount of ammo to make sure the target is eliminated.

This is a multipurpose prototype Republic Commando weapon, and is praised for it's ability to change purpose just upon a few attachment changes. The basic version features well balanced range, accuracy, impact, and stability. Making it a superior weapon to most standard issue Republic armament. It comes in two types: Launcher, and Marksmen.
The Marksmen version is a apt description; used for far away targets and for pinpointing areas of interest.
The Launcher version features a robust anti-armor explosive grenade, and can fire two at a time before reloading is required.

This is issued only to Republic Commando forces due to it's indispensability with credits and other currency; It is incredibly expensive and uses top of the line technology to reproduce energy bolts of multiple kinds. The lack of reloading makes for a extremely useful weapon, and can make any user the envy of any passerby's.
Armor
This is the Republic Commando standard armor, with it's bolt and metallic resistant material, jointed comfortable kneepads and elbowpads, multipurpose HUD for the interior of the helmet, and general speed matched with strength can make all forms of tactical operations smooth and simple for any wear.
ARC, Phase II, Phase III, and other armor are in common use, dedicated to certain branches of situations and top of the line.
Vehicles
The Republic is known for it's advanced blueprint techniques and attention to detail, and in this model, it is no different. the Arc-170 starfighter is used to take on any other kind of space craft. It houses two heavy cannons, enough room for at least three pilots, each used for specific areas of the ship, and utilizes two Ion engines for a robust amount of speed.

The V-wing speed craft is generally used for recon and speed purposes. It can outmaneuver almost all combatants it runs into. Despite it's light armor and weaponry, it holds it's own, with advanced technology to back it up.
The LAAT Gunship is utilized for armor, weaponry, and transport. Of course, the tradeoff is speed and maneuverability, but that is usually compensated for it's sheer firepower. Republic forces all over the galaxy use them very often for it's principle purposes.
This is a extremely fast assault tank, which is used, praised, and upgraded regularly. It balances armor with speed perfectly, without either two being dampened by each other. The Tank can be used for recon, assault, supression, speed, transport, or other operations.

The AT-TE is a powerhouse, sacrificing large amounts of speed and haste, for a tremendous amount of sheer might. It is matched only by it's armor, which is just as good if not better.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Empire, lead by the Emperor, is a fierce and terrifying force to be reckoned with. Though that in itself is both a strength and a weakness; money and resources are often times wasted on too much firepower, hence the creation and destruction of the Death Star.
The E-11 Blaster Rifle is the standard firearm for the Imperial forces. It's well rounded mechanics allow for general use, but is not extremely market in any regard.

The DLT-19 heavy rifle is used for pounding targets with heavier, thicker blaster bolts, which boasts more ammo than ever before.

The SC-10 sidearm is used for target accusation and fast performance. It can be used to accurately pinpoint a target with swift speed, but sacrifices power and range.
Armor
Since the Republic's days, the Empire has seen to make more specializations available to intensive training and dedication.
This armor is dedicated to honor-guard, specifically lord Vader and the Emperor when they are rarely seen on the Battlefront. The markings let passerbys know where they stand in the Empire.

The Shock Trooper armor is used for exactly that-- Electric discharges and absorbing. It is generally used to control prisoners, but the Shock Troopers have seen some action outside of that thanks to their training reports.
The Jump Trooper armor is equipped with thrusters, jetpacks, and other equipment used to reach normally out of reach areas.
The Shadow Scout Trooper is used for stealth operations, sniper eliminations, marksmanship, and tactical insertion.
Vehicles

The AT-AT, or All Terrain Armored Transport, is a four legged beast of power, designed to storm planets with force, and to take out generally all forms of vehicles, such as flying craft, ground craft, and water craft. It has no feasible weakness-- except for that of it's clumsy and slow movements.

The AT-ST or otherwise known as a Chicken Walker, is a faster variant of the AT-AT, it's bigger brother. That comes with it's own inherit strengths and weaknesses, but the speed and fair amounts of armor makes for a threat to be reckoned with.

The standard flying vessel for the Empire is known non other as the Tie Fighter, known for it's screeching wail whenever it passes by, slithering fear into the hearts who don't know better. It is equipped with twin turbo laser cannons, monumentally advanced speed, and no shields or rockets. It is the most balanced fighter that the Empire houses.

Through the usual tradeoff of speed and agility, the Tie Bomber comes equipped with advanced armament and weaponry. Apart from the usual arsenal, the Tie Bomber is as expected, equipped with ion bombs, used to exploit the electric and energy weaknesses that are in near every ship they run into.
Onto prototypes, the Tie Hunter makes blurring amounts of speed when the throttle is cranked up to full. However, it does not need to sacrifice as much firepower and armor as the usual demands make out; advanced space techniques allow for both room and speed. Which makes for a unpredictable viper indeed.
The two armies will begin conquest on a lone island, deprived of much life activity besides the military force occupying it. The Republic will defend the island, and the Empire will attempt to control it with a invasion force.
