Hi, I downloaded Jedi Academy from steam and I want to get back to playing online, having not played for years. Firstly I am able to join the JA official server but all others don't allow me to join saying i need to download stuff. Can anyone here tell me how I should go about becoming able to play again on servers where there are actually real people playing not just bots. I've actually encountered a few people on JA official who have downloaded from steam this week and had the same problems as me, i.e not knowing what to do to be able to play online.

Try turning the autodownload option OFF in the options menu

I don't know how it is on Steam version... is it supposed to show all the servers or is it like the CD one? If it's like the CD one, you can try THIS if nothing else works.

When it say you need download stuffs, I think it must be something with a custom maps which it is not a base maps. But if you have a custom maps and which maps they use on the server, you will get on fine and will not likely to see error message and say that you needs to download these maps in order to play on the game. For a steam, I am not sure if you have a directory in a files, I am not sure if it category as common, I am not full aware of the steam, but I am sure some of those who have steams can assist you, or if you can try your best figures it out. Also, JA Offical server is a ctf gamemode, I am not sure this is only website that have map downloading for most of JA+ Server CTF, and base CTF servers. I am not aware of that, but you can ask Lina or AJ since they plays CTF lot than I do.

If you want get a custom maps, you can get from this link below, to get a maps, scroll down until you see a map of lists, and pick any of those, those will be present on CTF JA+ Server, or other base servers, they only have JA+ CTF website.

If you want a custom maps that contains FFA (Free for All Mode), Duel, Power Duel, and more of gametypes, there are 2 links you can downloads from there. There are tons and tons of the maps.

If you go to the community guides there is a guide that teaches you how to download maps and such. You can go to jkhub.org to download mods, maps, and skins.

That's actually weird. I've been able to auto DL any of the maps the server changes to so far. I used to own a hard copy and could directly add each file to the gamedata folder. With steam it's slightly different. Just in case you haven't gone through a walk-through online yet I'll explain. When you open your library page with all your steam games, right click on JKA. Click properties. Click on local files. This will open where steam has put the game on your PC and you should see all the familiar files and your gamadata folder. There you can add your skins, mods, etc... mainly the "Stuff" you are referring to that you need to download.

Also, to join the KR server. You could always copy their primary server IP which is 192.223.29.244:29070. I was able to connect to the server without any mods the first time I joined.
