Change the way the game looks and spice it up with some better colors.

Download this!

Stay away from the other sites they have viruses linking to the texture mod you can get it at

http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-jedi-ac... Texture mod. I didn't download this and felt the need not to.

however the sweetfx is http://www.mediafire.com/download/6ra70 ... weetFX.zip

Just install it your game folder. I have yet to test it. Sweetfx works fine any game. I use it for GTA V myself. Never been banned. It's just a graphic injector and very safe to use. I use tons of different sweetfx for most of my games.

You can't just make everything blue with increased contrast as postprocess filter and call it a day xD
Rend2 will be more promising, especially in the future.

It's also implemented poorly in that it affects the HUD too.
BTW, we've had bloom and such in JA for years =P particularly before OpenJK

Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Blue Version

I remember this. This is the mod where Luke takes you to a table with 3 lightsabers on it, and asks you to choose single, duals, or staff, then once you choose one lightsaber, the second choice suddenly disappears, then you go on a long journey defeating all the dark jedi collecting the jedi badges, and with all 12 badges, you can fight the elite sith lords, right?

Interesting.. i'd like to know more about that.. i use tons of sweetfx for other games they're not just all blue. Some are just excellent they make the game look twice better. I know the sweetfx made for Jedi Academy isn't 100% perfect but this was the only one i managed to find. Heck i could make my own if i wanted to but jka is such an old game and it's hardly eye candy compared to modern graphics we have today. At least we had it's hey day time back in the day.. still gives you a fresh look how jka can feel if you keep playing the game over and over. I wish we had a new engine for jka. Would totally love some dx11. Lightsabers actually look great in the new Star Wars Battlefront. It is actually great looking and it got me thinking wishful that they make a new Jedi Knight series.

We don't necessarily need a new engine, what we need is a new renderer - and we have one under development, called rend2

What would a "new engine" bring that you want in JA? :p
You could consider OpenJK a "new engine" in that we have full source code access. We're just somewhat limited in what we can change because of compatibility with existing servers/clients.

A "new" or different engine isn't a magic bullet to solve all problems. What you probably want is a new game that isn't tied down by compatibility. Even that doesn't necessarily mean it would have to use a new engine, or that using a new/different engine would provide any benefit.

Alternatively, give me time + money and my engine will be used for a spiritual successor done right

As side point, as this post was made just before this one (and note my 2nd post on that thread): -

Everyone PLEASE do not click the link it apparently directs you to a website that has a virus, my malwarebytes caught it and killed it. The file itself has no virus though i checked it as soon i download it. The website is just a phishing site however i can upload the original rar file elsewhere so it's safer and legit.

If you are parnoid you can scan this file yourself at https://www.virustotal.com/ and i ran an scan and it is legit. However to get the rar file go here:
https://secufiles.com/T0a/SWAsweetFX.zip

this is legit and secured and safe!

You might have picked something up when poking around SweetFX downloads as you mentioned :P
As Razzy said - SweetFX is actually blocked by Chrome as malicious software. When I saw this I went into alert mode then, in relation to that download, off that site. I got the download via Internet Explorer (as Microsoft is less cautious than Google [eg. Java]) and looked into it.

The active component of sweetfx, being opengl32.dll was UPX compressed (as identified by looking at it in a hex-editor), that alone sends of massive alerts to any security conscious user. UPX is a real-time in-place compression - imagine a self-extracting zip executable with 1 file in it, being an application which gets unzipped and ran when the zip archive is opened - its like that but it all happens in memory. Point is, it's really only used to hide what the application really does, as you can't see the apps library imports and exports - all you see is a bunch of compressed data; therefore is used by the baddies to hide what it does.

So I decompressed opengl32.dll to convert it back to its original compiled state, that I actually could to that means it's either legitimate, or, the bad guy is too dumb to know how to stop a UPX decompress. It's compressed size was about 300KB, and uncompressed about 1MB - absolutely no need for the complexity and and overhead which in-place compression causes, especially for a dynamically linked run-time library. I checked all its import and export functions and nothing flagged as being inappropriate - like no wininet.dll imports. I also searched through the data for obvious IRC or FTP or WWW access and manually loading .dll's for live hooks (instead of declaring imports) - didn't see anything [obvious].

BUT, I know how an app can have full Internet access without accessing any libraries except shell32 - and that combined with a simple cypher to scramble text - could render passive detection useless. Sooo, I then did a Google search for known issues with sweetfx, specifically Trojan based, and didn't find anything to raise suspicion. That doesn't mean it's clean - that download link may not be a legitimate sweetfx release - but at this time I stopped checking as the odds were it was clean (although I was not going to use it myself!).

I did all this right after that post was made, but decided not to report on the result of my findings. But, if you want a culprit, that's my starting place. (MWB did skip it in a scan; don't let that think you are safe, MWB also skips all my toys too.) Just saying, if MWB picked it up, it was by its behavior, not by a viral signature - and if it blocked something coming off "KR", it would of been a pushed download from another site - meaning, you are already compromised - and most-likely by some unsigned app as sweetfx.
Glad we're all now on the same page!

Man i think you are freaking paranoid over sweetfx. I have been using sweetfx for most of my PC games and i never had any issues or trojans. They are legit. Yes i don't know why it isn't uploaded on sweetfx database where you can download tons of sweetfx. I got this link originally from youtube. However the link from the site is crap. Someone just don't know how to find the proper website to upload a secure clean download. After all the sweetfx files itself are legit and safe. I even ran a checker on it not just malwarebytes but a website too. It's safe and clean. Don't download it if you are concerned. Like i said i have been using sweetfx for tons of my games for years and i never had one hacker or virus attack. It's completely safe.

I do my research because others do not know how to.
eg. " that download link may not be a legitimate sweetfx release"

I play it safe - you're the one blaming the KR site for viruses hehe. I also suspect you didn't read all I wrote, or perhaps I wrote it in a manner which was hard to understand.
