So....here I am again. For everyone except jawfin, I send my warmest regards and well wishes. I hope everbody body has been having a good time on KR, and have been growing and prospering. I would like to tell you a little about myself. I'm game designer from CA (specifically a modeler) And as a game designer I'd like to offer some input on KR servers. Feel free to take it or leave it as you wish.

Falcon, about the healthpacks, I actually agree with you. The way they are handled (at least last I saw) leaves them ripe for abuse. The rub though is people hate being oneshotted by singles and so they load up on HP to avoid that of course, people then complain about HP runners and usually most people become unhappy. So how to solve the problem. My recommendation is to either change the starting HP and get rid of the HP packs, leave the starting HP as it is and get rid of the hidden caches and scatter very small hp packs around the map while making them small as possible and not pairing the shield and the health together or just get rid of them altogether. My guess though is that the map modeler doesn't feel it's worth the bother to change things and will leave things as they are.

The other item of note is the servers rules of conduct. I've seen many servers actually have written down their rules of conduct for visitors to see and this prevents frustration on both sides. New players to JA usually have no idea what the sort of expected behavior is and so expecting them to conform to the unspoken rules and so it's like playing a game of mao which could lead to a lot of frustration on both sides. Just put up a display of what you expect or even have a bind for when somebody breaks the rules as you have with laming.

Now on to the main meat of my post. Jawfin. Last I spoke here, I presented evidence for reasons why I thought jawfin was a dos hacker. From personal experience, I hate hackers. With a passion. No one has any excuse to be a black hat hacker. ESPECIALLY ADMINS. If you hack, I consider you to be criminal scum. I don't care if you're an admin, dev, or even the president of the United States, if you hack, I will call you out on it. On May 29, 2014 I saw and admin hack. I took this screencap as evidence.

Right then I decided to find out who that admin was and to expose him for what he was. That admin turned out to be jawfin (it was between him and AJ but AJ didn't use a DOS). as he admitted here.

"But what I will tell you is what did happen that day - as I have knowledge you don't and in the desperate hope you could possibly learn, I'll enlighten you. The KR clan has an admin emergency call thing where any non-admin can ask for help with dealing with bad guests. On this particular day there was a call for this individual to be banned, so I connected to the server and spec'd him. Each time he misbehaved I enabled a temporary ban (that is, the server ignored communication with him, you may perhaps know the JA server mod JASS has this feature) and let him know that any further misbehavior will result in a permanent ban. In other words, the screenie that you took and completely misunderstood it was threatening a DOS - when in fact it was no more than a server version of /ignore. I can't recall if I ended up leaving the firewall rule in, or released it, i.e. whether he was banned or not. What I do know is I didn't ban outright, but gave him the chance to behave."

I'd like to point out some things jawfin's statement. One, padawan 2 was not complaining about being kicked, he was complaining about excessively high ping as evidenced by the screenshot I took, so jawfin kicking the pada is an outright lie. Two, you didn't threaten a ban, you threatened that he would lag out permanently (more on that later.) which could be plausibly be a threat of a ban but you didn't explicitly state that you would ban him so I needed further evidence. So I provoked you. I called you a queef and gave you the excuse you wanted so much to DOS. (after all you were awfully quiet when I told you that DOSing padawan 2 was illegal and to knock it off). And DOS you did. You were quite busy, jawfin.

I don't care if you are the top admin of KR's servers, I don't care that you're the head manager of the KR website. You are lying, hacking, criminal scum and e-thug and a poor one at that who talks a big game about honor and yet is the furthest thing from it. You can't even DOS properly, you didn't really even affect my connection. So my advice to you, jawfin, is to lay low. On second thought, attack me all you want. You can do nothing of consequence and you'll just make it worse for yourself in court. Me playing a rogue was fun, but I can drop that facade anytime I wish, and at the end of the day, you will always be criminal scum. And I will never apologize to criminal scum. Ever.

Oh, one more thing. If you were half the system admin that you claim to be, you would know the difference between ping and lag. Maybe you should go back to school to learn that lag is the connection speed (or poor performance thereof) between two players with a server as an intermediary and ping as the speed between a computer and a server. Don't bother trying to hide all the relevant pages. I've already saved them. You may now go on a power trip as I expect you to do and abuse your very, very limited powers as admin.

Edit: Ah, now I remember. The "idk wht dos is" guy. fyi, this is what I did do. In my SSH TTY session to the server, logged on as "root" I did this: -
iptables -A INPUT -s nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn -j DROP
where nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the offenders IP.
I told the server not to receive packets from this one player.
I write this, with the unfulfilled hope you could possibly understand. Also, if you continue to accuse me of being a criminal you are not welcome on our forums. Please, please, please attempt to understand what a firewall is, please?

Here's the thing Balor, if you got DOS'd it wasn't by me. I don't have DOS capability, and neither would I pay for it. Also, DOS is not required IF YOU ARE THE SERVER OWNER - I would only need to add you to the firewall. You are legitimately just not smart enough to understand these things - there are no words small enough which you can comprehend. As you still feel the need to rage against things you can't understand, for things you did wrong but are so arrogant as to not see it, your forum account on KR has been suspended. On reviewing my previous post I realize I didn't address your questions, or at least your ill-worded statements.

Your ban was not lifted because you did not want it so. You were giving multiple opportunities to state your reason and failed to do so. That I happen to agree with you that you should remain banned is irrelevant. Considering the extend of your computer literacy I'll put the link here, saving you the effort of trying to find it: -

Note you could provide no actual reason why you should be allowed on KR, although you have remarkably demonstrated ample reason why you should not!

You are still determined to believe I launched DOS at you and other people. Before I address that I did ask you so nicely to learn what a firewall is, you evidently did not, so it occurs to me I may as well tell you!
For instance, to firewall the IP you posted from I would do this (on a Linux server) : -
sudo iptables -A INPUT -s 68.183.59.20 -j DROP
What this means is: -
"sudo" = execute this this program as superuser
"iptables" = the firewall application itself, allows and blocks packets per criteria
"-A" = add this new rule to the chain of rules
"INPUT" = meaning packets received by the computer, as its possible to block outgoing traffic too
"-s" = the source IP of which this rule is applied to
"68.183.59.20" = your IP, the guy we don't want communicating with us any more
"-j" = indicating what action we want to take when this rule is matched
"DROP" = drop the packet, we do not allow the machine to even see it got received
I spent a few minutes writing this in the hope, by using little words, that you can see how the server, by ignoring a client, will appear to be lagged to them. Imagine a child putting his fingers in his ears and chanting "na na na na na i cant hear you" - this is what the server is doing, it's hardly launching attacks, it's just ignoring you. As a matter of fact, I just went ahead and did this - try to look for the KR server, you will not be able to see who is on until your IP changes.
If this explanation fails to reach your level of comprehension I'll get some crayons and some scrap paper.

Having addressed that issue, the bit about DOS. As I said, I don't have an army of zombie bots, neither would a pay for one, or bother to write a flood application. But, if it were worth my effort, trust me that I would NOT be doing an ACK packet - which is TCP, not UDP which the game runs on; there you go you just learnt something. No, but, I would use one single packet, a malformed UDP which disconnects the client - I do not have this, just saying I know what to do if I had the evil intents as you obviously do. As a professional computer security expert I have to know a great deal about attacks, in a similar manner as that as a police officer has to know about crime.

Also, and something about DOS, the packets are forged, or spoofed, including the source IP. So that you managed to trace packets which seemed to come from Texas is the result of pure randomness. Only unless they were specifically, and constantly, coming from 192.223.29.244 could they be coming from me.

Interesting you accuse me of incompetency of a crime I didn't commit, what does that say of your competency? But you need to pathologically believe I did this. That I was the perpetrator of a real, or imagined, or faked, DOS. You need to believe this because you couldn't possible believe you are in the wrong - which is precisely where you are. I did not launch any attack, but I'll bet you'll go to your grave still thinking that I did - luckily for me your grave is none of my concern.

Now, the funny thing. You now say you baited me into doing a DOS attack on you, following your belief I had done that before. Your memory fails you. The time when I disconnected that player was weeks before this event. AND here's the real proof, if your genuine reason that day was to make me DOS - why take a month later to post about it? You would of been on your high horse immediately, none of this "oh look what i found in my modem's logs a month later". Once we wash away all the excrement you are saying, there's like nothing left! See though, here's the funny thing. I locked his thread as he wouldn't dispute the ban, but kept going on about lag. So for the joke of it, I'll retell the event he is still crying about: -

He is very predictable, like he stands still waiting to be attacked, then runs right to counter - it's always right (our left) unfailingly; he would fail our Jedi trial for that alone. So what I did was approach from my left, the direction he'll run into, fake one swing to get him moving, turn to my left and drop a twirl (I had dual sabers) and he always runs into it. Anyway, on this occasion I didn't turn far enough before the kata, so that he went down my left side, just copping a trim of it. Now with my ping I knew he'd have ample time to lunge me from behind, but no instead he runs all the way around behind me, coming up to the right side of me as the kata is ending (like 2-3 seconds after it starts and he's already been hit by it) to run into the end of the kata, and he died. I lol'd. And he's been blaming ping and lag delay and everything else since. How can one reason with that level of dementia?
