I'd say that if you can get a decent rig from HP at a fair price, then go for it. That's just me though, I don't know a whole lot about the home builds lately. Just make sure you don't get saddled with an integrated graphics chip. Go for Nvidia ;)

Building your own pc really isn't all that hard. The hardest part is just finding a processor and mobo that are compatible, the and tower to put them in. I'm assuming you don't care if it is a desktop or laptop unit?

Usually I say build your own comp. I plan to have one built for myself. But I think it all depends what kind of parts are good and what part kinds that you like.

custom build is prolly the best for your money. if you decide to go pre-built, HP would be the best if you go that route. check out newegg.com they have deals fairly often on parts etc. should have at least 8GB ram, i suggest getting Ripjaw gaming series thats what i use and it is nice. also look into getting an nVidia gfx card. i have the 760 but its kinda pricey, anything from 680Ti on up would more than be adequate for your needs. my card isnt even being pushed to its full limit yet due to next gen games not even utilizing the max of the engines they build their games around. Rosewill cases are good, mine was around 60 bucks and is rated top for airflow in its class. all the parts i have were from newegg and the delievery and everything was a breeze.

A decent workstation, except some clown put an ASUS sticker on it. Pretty lights too, but usually the first thing I disable if the machine is in line-of-sight though, real distracting when gaming!
