The Warriors - 1979 cult movie of street gangs in the Bronyx
Equilibrium - SciFi, a martial art with pistols; gun katas :)
The Lost Boys - Vampire half-comedy
Harold and Maude - Twisted comedy, hilarious start to it !
O Brother Where Art Tho? - Offbeat comedy

These are not completely obscure movies, but ones I recommend everyone sees at least once.

I would like people to post their favorite, non-common movies (so, not The Matrix or LotR) and be selective, I know I put down 5, but I could of put 20 obscure movies here.

Jawfin wrote:I would like people to post their favorite, non-common movies (so, not The Matrix or LotR)
so unless your are doing this to annoy me, everyone except for Fazz (love u bud!) has failed. Esp you Zab :/ I even said outrightly not The Matrix !

I know all of those movies, who here can say they know all of mine? (I mean, besides "O Brother"!)

So, please try again, cult classics, B-grade movies, offbeat but still successful. So, less pulp main-stream movies, just pick one obscure movie that you would recommend (like Meet the Feebles!).

You forgot meaning of Life, although I do prefer the two you mentioned

It funny; for me Monty Python is my life, so I never even thought of them being obscure; but to our younger Americans it must be!

BTW, I was looking for a list of movies to go watch, so if a movie is listed that has been on the silver screen; then I have seen it, or at least known about it to choose not to see it.

So thanks guys, a great list so far, keep em coming.

And I'll throw in Highlander here, not obscure; but a must see. Also Bloodsport the final word on a true martial arts film, no hollywood crap; but true fighting styles (well as best as any can be done in a movie).

yes thatt amazing movie XD

I woudln't have thought Monty Python as obscure either, then again I'm English and they were made not long before I was born.

I do not know the level of obscurity required here.. what determines a B class movie? not a massive hit yet still well known?

Well, I guess my criteria is really a movie you like that you think people should see, that isn't a recent public release. So I give you "Harold and Maude" or "Meet the Feebles" from my previous posts; or for the sick minded any movie with Divine in it.

Love wargames

The league of extraordinary gentlemen
No Place Like Home
The Illusionist
The Terminal
The Pursuit of Happyness
7 Pounds

Those are the most "obscure" movies that I like that I can think of right now

Saw 'Equilibrium' and 'Harold and Maude.'
I recommend:
Blues Brothers (Classic)
The Boondock Saints (Classic)
Any Mel Brooks Film (Again, classic)
Death Proof (Not outstanding on its own, but the villain is twisted and it has the best car stunt scenes I've ever seen).
Gremlins and Gremlins II (You have to be in a mischevious or goofy mood to really appreciate it).
Delicatessen (A French film, but not arty or anything. In short, it's a post-apocalyptic romantic comedy on cannibalism. Interested now?)
1408 (A recent horror film that went sort of unnoticed. But if you want to see some scary twists and a true test of the human psyche, this is your movie).

All I can think of for now.

Reefer Madness

"4srsly" though, you've all pretty much covered the whole thing. i like the old World War 2 movies for some reason though.

Tora! Tora! Tora! (BANZAI!!!! :D )
Midway (Henry Fonda ftw)
To Hell and Back (Audie Murphy pwnt ass  )
Battle of Britain (!!I LOVE THE SPITFIRE!!)
The Longest Day (yup, Henry Fonda)
Patton (pretty good :) )

crapload more but i can't think of them right now :P

See that Py, Rugg loves you ;)

.... *Facepalm.* Not that kind of spitfire, you Fin of Jaw. -_-;
Bill and Ted's Most Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. They are so goofy and moronic that it's alomst clever, and Keanu found the perfect role for his "expansive" character spectrum. *Is not a happy camper the Reeves is gonna play Spike from Cowboy Bebop.*

for the MA enthusiast.

Ong Bak and Warrior King - Both Tony Jaa movies and truely show Muay Thai Boxing at its best.

For others,

Clerks I and II - Kevin Smith genius :)
Bubba Hotep - Bruce Campbell... need I say more?
Transporter 1 and 2 - simply because Statham is mint (In the Name Of The King, is also good)
The Devils Rejects + House Of A 1000 Corpses - Good slasher flicks

I could go on but these are a few of fairly obscure titles in my extensive collection :) Movies are kinda my passion. Ironically Jaw I've got all the movies on your first list ;) Good choices I must say :)

Also missed from Monty Python would be "And Now For Something Completly Different" sort of a feature length collection of their best sketches... well worth a watch :)
