Hoorah! I'm glad Obama is president.

Anyone who doesn't like Obama needs to accept that he's the president, a lot of us had to do that for Bush so this ain't any different. I'd have to do the same if McCain were president, lol.

I hope he does help the economy, I really do.

Exactly

On the economy side.. I was thinking.. typically Id say there isnt much governments can do to help the nature of these things BUT there might have some help here..

Since there seems to be a big confidence spring in the step of US citizens it may give people a little confidence and we may see stock exchanges helped a little.

I know so far since he has been in Wall street has mainly taken a hit but we shall see...

Brilliant news

How they got away with this "Concentration camp" was shocking..

A good start!!!
I stand corrected, theres one more thing i will say:

You do realize that by the opening of Guantanamo Bay, you are releasing all of those Islamic radicals back into the world........ what do u think they will do with their free time now? And Obama is making the CIA release the prisoners they have hidden all around the world. My point is, the CIA doesnt put them in maximum security hidden in the world if they're a common terrorist, those are the guys who plan things like 9/11, furthermore, i do believe one of those terrorists is filing charges against the U.S., does anyone else find that ironic? But back to the point of the CIA prisoners, doesnt that alarm anyone?

Trial people or release them

If they are tried and guilt then you punish accordingly

if they are innocent release them

Simple as..

You cannot preach democracy to these countries if your unable to do it yourself..

Like it or not guantanamo bay was not on at all.. A bad example was lead.

What is your suggestion on what to do with Guantanamo Bay??

Keep it like a Neonazi? Or release/ trial people accordingly to civil and human rights and of course "democracy".

The entire thing was a tainted shambles.

And I agree was it too many steps away from a concentration camp?

Do a lot of people in US really think its okay? Sounds to me there is some worrying propaganda being aired

This is all very much propaganda.

No, I think most Americans realize what Guantanamo Bay really meant. It made us Hypocrites as we sat back and broke our own and international laws.

Read It:
Geneva Convention

If you haven't then you shouldn't be arguing with pro or con on this decision, because then you don't even know where we stand as a nation or why.

Guantanamo Bay is not just a place for 9/11 terrorist.

There have been at times over 500 prisoners, and at the moment approximately 245 detainees.

Not all of them have to do with 9/11 and there have been wrongful arrest.

This whole thing about "Do you want terrorists in your backyard?!" is so stupid.

We have had and still have serial killers, rapist, robbers, arsonist what have you, already locked up in our prisons.

So, ya...it's a prison. They are locked up like everyone else. I feel just as secure with them locked up as the other crazies.

I am not going to pretend I know the entire Geneva Convention back-2-back but I know pretty much the gist.

Your right it wasn't what your country stood for. It was hypocritical which has left a grey spot..

It seems that Obama is recognising the mistakes and is trying to make good again..

I think if people at least fail to see this on GTM Bay. Then they have lost their way a little, or have been a victim of bad propaganda.

No, I dont personally think that guantanamo was the ideal becon of democracy and yes I do think they should be trailed. However when i refered to the 9/11 terrorists i was referring to Barack Obama's orders to close most (if not all)of the CIA's hidden prisons, which are equivalent to a maximum security asylum. And as for the Geneva Convention, wasn't that meant to be for war against another country (not saying we should ditch the idea all together) but anyways, why do we limit ourselves agaisnt a rebel faction that doesn't follow it? Not saying we should resort to torture and full out slaughter but the U.S. is limiting its capabilities here....

This is why they are called "basic human rights."

It's the way to treat all humans, no matter what they believe in or do or have done or what country they belong to.

It's a Promise that America agreed to follow, and a promise that America has broken.

Obama could not have kept Guantanamo open. If he did then he would have been a hypocrite just like the Bush administration...Not the best way to start off a presidency. Not a good way to present ourselves to the world.

Even though people might not agree on it, closing Guantanamo was the right decision taking to mind our morals, standards and law practices.

So therefore one could make the point that anyone who doesn't support closing Guantanamo is anti-american since they want to continue breaking promises America has made to the world.

im sry but bush should be held accountable for crimes that were commited at Guantanamo Bay, im not a fan of it Because te US kept an Australian prisoner there for 5 years with no trail
so until the facility is destroyed i doubt i will ever respect the US govenment

Geneva convention isn't a US thing, it is an international thing which hundreds of countries have adopted.

In fact I am sure its roots are originator being Swiss(hence Geneva)

As it was that there was wrong arrests going on without trials or any resolve..

You could argue who that both sides are as bad as each other.

Or are people guilty without being proven innocent.

That aside... not aimed at you Jato.. but in general some of the conspiracy theories aimed at Obama are ridiculous.

The stuff that you hear being said is unbelievable.
