So the 50 series has had a pretty rough launch. 5090's are still melting power cables, Drivers are frying 5090s. 5080s are a huge cut back from the 5090 (calling it now, a 5080Ti will slot in after AMD releases their 9000 series which looks kind of fishy almost as if they knew the 5080 would be knocked down by AMD considering they promo'd the 5070Ti and not a 5070 first more than the 5080 while the 5070TI is being sold at 5080 prices but i digress). super variants are usually mid/late-cycle hardware refreshes)
But lets talk more about the 5070Ti for "$750". The 5070ti was probably the most anticipated card release out of the lot for a price to performance king akin to the 1080Ti back in the day. however, the 5070Ti does NOT get a standardized founder edition. meaning the MSRP of "$750" that is recommended for the founder edition spec'd cards which dont exist not even from nvidia, is bout as honest as Lando Calrissian working at a soup kitchen. Like who are you trying to fool, we know youre only here because you HAD to. So there are no 5070Ti's for $750 and 3rd party AIB manufacturers are charging $200-$400 EXTRA for a cool fan and an updated BIOS. That leaves you with a 5070Ti that performs about as well as a 4080/4080S for the MSRP of a 4080 of $999. let me remind you that the xx'70Ti usually surpasses the previous gen flagship card so for it to barely meet the 4080 is a huge decline from average trends. "OH but Fraea", you might say, "Then why dont you get a 4080 or Ti/Super one, theyre available and probably decreasing in price right?". HA! you would THINK that would be the case but no, you cant even get ahold of a 3080 anymore without paying astronomical prices. So the long short of the situation is were being resold a 4080 labled as a 5070Ti, the 5080 is underwhelming and overpriced and the 5090 is a down-payment on a car, last-gen and previous-gen cards are impossible to find anywhere near MSRP.
Meanwhile ive been sitting here patiently limping across the finish line with a 2070 Super through the '30 series, the '40 series and i guess now the '50 series just to be able to get a card at a price that makes sense. Oh and AMD just seems interested in following nVidia's footsteps and picking up their scraps, so im not hopeful for a challenging market anytime soon.
TLDR: the 50 series is a refresh not a generational step forward. no stock, high prices, angry Fraea stuck on 2070 super. Surely the '60 series launch in 2 years wont be a disaster.... right? guys? guys.... ok this isnt funny
