I am opening this up for a discussion due to the significant number of people who have made complaints about this individual. This also allows him to respond. As it stands DirtyMan is banned for repeated sexual chat, repeated laming, and also subsequently disconnecting as soon as admin action is taken.

I feel due to all this, and for community spirit, and also so DirtyMan can meet his accusers (if you choose to post) that our lifting his ban depends heavily on public opinion.

Please note this is about a game we play for fun. It's not about revenge, or one-up-man-ship; it's about providing a solid reason why a person can't play this with us due to his infringing upon the fun, and feeling of safety or moral health, of the other players.

As stated, he may post any defense / promises here he may desire.

As someone who has been in similar territory before - please could I suggest an option that strikes the middle ground. Ban him for 2 weeks - 2 months, however long you think fit, and think of it as a quarantine if you like. Speaking from experience, makes one very reluctant to break rules quickly upon return! :D

I'm one of the admins who had to deal with DirtyMan many many times.. We're a lot in the same case. This ban has its place and DirtyMan had enough chances. Way more than a lot of others, IMO. I suggest that he doesn't get banned until HE posts here.

"repeated sexual chat, repeated laming, and also subsequently disconnecting as soon as admin action is taken."

Certainly valid grounds for being banned.

In a game where each player's presence matters a lot (due to dwindling population), I suggest mercy. I imagine KR is also leaning towards that mentality, considering that a potential appeal post has been made for the accused, rather than by the accused.

As sittingsith mentioned, a considerable ban length is almost always preferred to a perm ban. As long as Dirtyman expresses sincere repentance for his rule-breaking, and as long as he doesn't continue to be a toxic presence, I suggest an unban. Of course, the unban being strictly dependent on those mentioned conditions. I think public opinion is not a good indicator for whether someone should be unbanned or not, primarily because: (1) everyone will remember them as the rulebreaker they USED to be, and not the rulebreaker they necessarily currently are, and (2) admins will remember them strictly as a nuisance that had to be dealt with, rather than a fun player other players might have enjoyed playing with. At the end of the day, if unbanning this individual is actually a mistake, it doesn't take more than a few moments to re-implement the ban. Very small price to pay for the potential return of a player that contributes to the server's population and fun.

I saw plenty of Dirtyman and he never bothered me. Gave me quite a few laughs, even. Granted, my opinion is skewed because nothing bothers me, even laming. I think he should be unbanned (seeing as how he's spent a considerable amount of time banned) as long as he is genuinely repentant.

To clear one point up, to date he has now been banned for 6 days, and it's possible he did not even notice this until 2 days ago.

First, hello all. I haven't posted on here in a while, so I think a quick 'howdy' is in order.

Second, I have witnessed quite a bit of Dman's form of 'having fun playing a game with a community' from back when I was in KR, and in fact, to within the last month or so - which is, in a way, remarkable since I do not play much these days. Dman's form of 'having fun playing a game with a community' has always been fairly consistent from what I have seen - his joy or enjoyment being on the KR server is always inextricably linked to someone else's displeasure, or at a minimum to his efforts in attempting to bring about someone else's displeasure. No matter how many discussions I have witnessed others having with him in an attempt to get him to hop on board to the notion that other people's enjoyment playing the game is just as important has his, he has never seemed to grasp that concept. Instead, nearly every encounter with him I witnessed or had, he was either trying to make other people uncomfortable, or had already succeeded, filling the server with needless chat about rules, laming, etc. This was indeed the case I witnessed within the last month or so.

To be completely fair, I personally have not had problems with Dman, and his behavior personally has never bothered me, other than to find it rather sad/weird that someone enjoys spending their time playing a game to either try to make someone else uncomfortable, or actually accomplish that goal. But, having been in KR, and given my absolute respect and admiration to the environment KR tries to maintain on its server, the bar should not be, and has never been, for me whether I find Dman's behavior problematic. Rather, the important question is how significantly does his behavior affect others who join the server to simply enjoy their time with the KR community, whether new to the server, or not? From what I have seen consistently, is that his behavior has always had a negative impact on someone, and at times, many people. If after all this time, he still has not found his way to understanding how to play a game civilly with other people, I see no reason why he should allowed back. What benefit to the KR community does that serve?

That being said, however, I truly hate the idea of perma-bans, as I do believe that people deserve chances to do better. So, I think, at a minimum, a very short lead would be appropriate if unbanning him is considered.

I know my thoughts on this should probably not have much weight, as I am not around much these days. But, I thought I would share my thoughts on this, since I do have some knowledge of Dman's past. I hope I didn't overstep my bounds. All the best.

As someone who has had numerous issues with him in the past, I'm more than in favor of banning him. He's been given a fair amount of chances to behave himself, but he abuses them every change he can get.

Thank you! He antagonized me and so many others
