Isn't stomping land deader than dead? Pretty sure the devs upped and left

Only people who bought the game before can play it now. You can't buy the game on steam anymore so its pretty much dead.

No, right now, I'm pretty sure it's very very dead ... read the reviews mate. And yes, I'm talking about Stomping Lands. You CANNOT buy the game off of Steam anymore, it was taken down. The link you provided is merely the game's Steam page, there's no way to purchase it from there. Don't get me wrong, yeah it was totally a cool looking game. It just got its first update after months upon months, but that doesn't mean people are convinced it's going anywhere. Jig (a developer) said there were going to be updates over the course of the next few months, leading into 2015 with even more updates. He (and they, the other developers) also promised monthly updates but those cut out a loooong time ago which left the community in the dark. That is why people consider the game dead.

Unfortunately I don't really go to Kotaku anymore, as I no longer trust their credibility, so I didn't see that bit of information until I just researched it.

Funny picture from Kotaku's article:

I totaly agree with Key. I am talking about STOMPING LAND. A couple of months ago you could buy the game on steam. But now you can't because the developer didn't update the game or anything. So it is dead :c
 #127432  by Difionex

Yeah but you still can't buy the game. The updated and patches and stuff come out for people who bought the game when it came out.

i know, but hopefully it gets put back on steam, lol.

im dl'ing TSL 0.5.5 from a random source atm so i can try it.

good games take time, posting every little bit you do take time away from making the game.

goin silent for a bit doesnt mean your a scammer, people just want everything in a second, lol

Just because people play a game doesn't mean it's developers haven't abandoned it and aren't still there to push updates to move it forward. If you disagree with that then I bet you're still probably waiting for Ravensoft's next JKA update.

When a developer goes silent for months after promising reoccurring updates people invested in seeing (which suddenly stopped appearing), what can instantly be taken from that scenario? Oh, well something along the lines of "oh I just invested in an ALPHA game, the devs stopped their weekly update schedule completely, no one has heard from them in months... what hath become'th o'thee, young Stomping Lands, save'th the impending doom of abandonment?"

Sure they're trying to make a comeback (something I already mentioned and linked to, ty for restating it), but that really is no comforting guarantee in my eyes. Also, they're "rage" posts for a reason - they wouldn't be "raged" if there wasn't some reason to be mad about. Again, read the Steam reviews listed under "most helpful", you'll see some real colorful opinions. I'm glad some of these people changed their reviews to mention the updates.

TLDR: Community activity does not equal developer activity and anyone with half a brain is skeptical of the comeback.

All negativity aside, I will totally buy this game if it ever emerges from alpha/beta. It has a lot of potential and I can see it being really really fun. I'm actually excited they're trying to bring it back, I'm just not going to get my hopes up. Let's hope they prove me wrong!

lol, he hasnt gone silent at all, just on the social network/steam sides, but he's still been on the community and active.

just because they've been a bit quiet doesnt mean they abandoned it, lol.

there for no reason, lol. raging just to rage. your just being crazy, i guess your one raging blindly.

jka was released as a finished product, TSL is stil a wip, gg
