Hey guys,

Dunno if you people read a lot, but I do, and I recently finished this,
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1344 ... raven-boys

This book, the first in the jimmy-rustling "Raven Cycle", is absolutely verdant and enigmatic. I love, love, love the way she writes, and the best part of it is her sage advice, which she only imparts on a semi-regular basis; mostly because people ask her all the time. I fully suggest you read this book!

One video, which you can watch from the link below, she talks about being a writer of any sort, and what anyone should be doing after high school, what they should major in, University or College, etc.

She uses this metaphor,
"Writing is like walking; it's nice that you can walk, and I think everyone should be able to do it, but unless you have somewhere to walk, it's not very impressive. Writing is about living, and then telling the world what you saw."

Needless to say, I love Maggie for this piece of advice simply because it has shaped how I look at things in their entirety; writing is great, and if you can do it well, then power to you. But it's not just about the word count, the material, and the page number. It's about your power, your life, and what you see.

She also explains easily that some people get this experience just from reading, and you don't need to be an A++ student to be a good writer. You need to live happily, and do what you love in the process. Some people get the experience from a creative writing degree, some "under water basket weaving", whereas others, just by living.

Anywho,

Your friend,
Wind.
