Greetings, KR.

I am embarking on a new experiment for Jedi Academy and would like to invite KR to join in.

In a nut shell, I am purchasing a 32 player JA server that will belong jointly to a group of JA+ clans. Right now I'm calling it the Global JA Event Server (GES).

I'm aware that KR already has an event server, which is part of what gave me this idea in the first place . However, I'd still like to extend you an invitation in case you would like to participate anyways. Afterall, it wont cost you anything.

Why am I doing this? TNA has owned a secondary server in the past and seen it waste away with little to no use. It's nice to have another server to go to in order to mess around, set up special gametypes, or have a clan match, but it's honestly just not worth the cost of maintaining it for occasional use. I'm assuming that other clans have this same issue. My hopes are that by offering the use of this server to a large group of clans I can make it worth while. I also hope that this server will become a focal point for the union of the JA community, giving us an environment to come together despite clan affiliation, boosting public event participation for all clans involved.

This server will be focused around special events, in whatever form. All full members of all the clans linked to the server will have admin access. Unless this becomes an issue, we will allow each clan's leadership to decide the admin level privileges for their members. It should, however, follow the normal hierarchy of admin privileges, with the more trusted / responsible members having greater admin powers. The top admin level should be reserved for clan leaders.

What would be expected out of you? Simply follow the server rules and respect the other clans and players that use the server. I'm sure that wont be an issue with this clan. Donations are not mandatory, and they have no bearing on whether or not a clan can join or continue to use the server. It is my hope, however, that eventually the large member pool between all the clans can sustain the financial end of the server. For now, while the concept is still being tested, I expect to finance the server on my own.

I'd also like to emphasize that this is not a TNA server. The server will be administrated by all the clans, and each clan will have equal say in its rules and uses. I have set up a forum to use for organization of the server on the TNA forums. If this server turns out to be a success, we can look into setting up a separate forum elsewhere, but for now its just easier to use the forums already established. Clan leaders will have moderation ability over the forum boards pertaining to the GES, as well as access to a moderators board for administration issues/discussions pertaining to the GES. I purchased the server today, but will not have access to it for a couple of days. Please visit the GES forum and give your clan's input on what the server rules and settings should be so that we can get it up and running asap. Everything I've posted so far is tentative and open to modification.

if successful as you said i think this would be a great idea if multiple clans would to gather under one server and share fun together

This sounds like an excellent idea I'm curious how it turns out. Be careful of though some clans may have certain morale values that differ from others, hopefully you and other people who want to organize this will find that right balance for all JA clans to agree on.

Well, for now i'm only inviting a few clans that i know from my own experience to be respectful.

So far I have invited: KR, EK, JAWA, z3n and of course TNA.

I think if all these clans participate that will be plenty for now.

awesome idea... about the rules i think the most obvious one would be no laming and please, please put a no bad language rule on it because i cant stand people who cant think up of anything better to say than curse words.Thats my two cents on the matter no laming,and no curssing.great idea hope to see it go far

I finally got the server up an running, so I figure its time for an update. I'll try to hold myself back from my usual lengthy posts.

The server IP is 108.178.55.219:29070

Right now the settings are the same as the TNA server because I used that server.cfg as a starting point.

I plan on adding a redirect server soon so that players can download custom maps within JA. This should help with public events on custom maps.

There are five potential clans that would have access to the server, but not everyone has confirmed they want to join yet. The clans are: TNA, JAWA, z3n, KR, and EK. Any future clan additions would have to be approved by all the clans in an anonymous vote.

Server rules are yet to be decided. I would prefer that they trend towards the lenient side when the server isn't actively being utilized for an event, with event rules temporarily trumping the generic server rules. Most of the clans in this group (if not all) have a no swearing policy on their own servers. Since this is a closed server, I would say that in order to avoid conflicts the standard rule for language should be for visitors to be "respectful" to one another, and that non-insulting/racist/offensive swearing would be tolerated. No laming is pretty universal as well, but I really don't think that will be an issue.

The overarching rule that I believe would keep everyone in line is that if one clan starts creating issues/drama on the server, they will loose server access.

If you would like to suggest changes to any of this, please do so on the server forum boards I set up so that all the other clans can see your suggestion and respond.


Here is what I need from you if you decide to participate:

1) Send at least one clan representative to the server forums to register: http://www.tnaclan.com/forums/index.php?board=90.0 . Have them post a quick message once they are on the boards so that I can give them access to the board that will have the server passwords. Also, post here who you have sent so that I can make sure it is not just someone trying to pull a fast one. I wont give them access on the forums until I see a confirmation here.

2) If you want to have a config file on the server that allows you to switch the server damage settings to your clan's preferences, I'll need at least a partial copy of your server.cfg file. I'm sure you would anyways, but make sure the server passwords and any other sensitive information is removed before sending it to me.

3) Post links to any maps you would like to have added to the server. I'd prefer that you use the post already started on the server forums, but posting a link here will work as well.



Looks like it ended up being lengthy anyways. Oh well.

not really sure about bad language tolerated at a certain point since that would go against our morals since we are strictly against any bad language on the forums and server side

I don't have any problem with having a no swearing rule on the server if that is what everyone wants. It might be easier to just use the JA word filter.

I think it would be better to just let the council respond in general before we jump to assumptions
