I need a new computer

I'm just not satisfied with my OptiPlex anymore. All I can run on that computer is JKA and a couple RP games. but not games like SWTOR or COD etc. I'm thinking of buying computer stuff so my dad can build a gaming computer for me. But I need advice in like "what's good". Like what kind of parts like graphics cards, and that kind of complicated stuff should I get? I appreciate your time even reading this topic. Thank You =^_^=

I use a mac and run bootcamp so I have both windows and mac OS. It's good hardware, and you get the benefit of having windows for games and mac for...mac stuff

In my humble opinion there's really nothing exciting about mac software that ur missing.... especially if ur pc is for gaming. If ur dad is tech savvy he'll know what you need. If not then I would buy a pre-built rig personally. I have had great experience with alienware, i know some disagree but as far as gaming goes I found them to be pretty good. I'm sure the true techy's on here will give you a good list but I would just suggest either let ur Dad do it if he knows what hes doing (it'll be a good learning experience, its what i did) or get a pre built rig.
..plus get windows 7

Macs are overpriced. Just saying and you really cant argue that... u can get a superior rig for less w/out it

Edit: For some reason the 3rd comp we have (windows 8 ) won't run JKA

As is Alienware, just saying.
On topic Saki, it really depends on what your budget for a PC is and what you want to get out of it. If you want to get Ultra quality performance out of most modern games today, you're looking at a price tag of about 1000 dollars (how much my machine cost when I built back in February). However, like I said, that's for Ultra quality. The only piece of hardware you really need to splurge on and should be the most expensive part of your build should be your graphics card given what you're going to be doing with it. After that, a decent processor (you don't need an i7 with 4.0 GHz, but you do need some power. I'm running an i5 with 3.4 GHz normal, 3.8 overclocked) and at least 8 gigs of RAM.
Also, as Zab said, Doc's post is a pretty good PC that you could try and build yourself too, or make modifications based on what your dad knows. Really is up to you.

Well... I'm broke XD but my parents aren't XD I'll just wait for another good grade on another semester and I get what I want xD
And on topic, I just want a comp that can run JKA and a couple modern games, like I can't keep playing SWTOR on Win 8 cuz my dad said its gonna "slow the computer down". I want a comp where something won't slow down and I can run stuff like JKA and SWTOR.

Undeniable troof! Alienware is pricey, you could def build your own of equal stats for WAY less! But the diff is you know the rig will own any game you thro at it AND it will work, however I think that $640 rig that was mentioned by zab will be more than enough if you got the cash. Best of luck, I vote let your dad take the lead.
Out of personal experience if you want top of the line and you will build ur own ur gunan be looking at at least around 1500 dollars, i built my gaming rig voer 6 years ago now for a little over 1600, and it still runs top of the line games... or did till my geforce card fried ;_;
In the end you def. get when you pay for when building your own

if your building your own comp may i suggest nvidia graphics cards because they have been confirmed to be reliable video cards.and if your willing to spend it just get an intel CPU... if not go with AMD processors

Gaming PC ok.
For current gen or for upcoming gen and whats your budget? If you could convert it to english pounds that would be wonderful and I could give you a ballpark rig that will achieve what you want it to.
Just need to know what games your hoping to be able to run, obviously can be cheaper for current games if you want it to be sustainable then higher grade components will probably be needed.
But in general terms you can build a mid range gaming rig for roughly £550 (just convert that to your local currency)
