Hello KR, I don't want to burden anyone or annoy at all. This is just a topic to find out if anyone is able to help me with UU. I used to have the darn thing figured out, but depravity over time has made me dumb with it.

My problem is that I am using steam, because I dont have a mp launcher but through steam, therefore I have to lauch it through steam in order to play... even with a sub-exe it wont launch but through steam.... steam steam steam. *vents a little*

I have tried torrent for jka, but its risky and didn't work, for some reason. If I am a lost cause, it's okay I don't have to have it, but it would be nice to have it again... we are creatures of habbit after all.

If there is anyone who is awesome and patient enough to give me some pointers or tips, I would greatly appreciate it! Please don't say Google, lol, I have already made Google tired... of course that's just an opinion.

Also as a side note, I'm enjoying myself thus far with KR, and don't plan on visiting elsewhere, why should I if I found what I was looking for? Thanks for your time!

Are you saying you can't start UU because it crashes JKA? Or are you saying that JKA isn't connecting to UU because of Steam?


If it's the first problem:

You can run UU before you begin your game, however I've noticed in the past that it has caused JKA to crash before it can fully start (not just for me but others as well). It has always been safer for me to start JKA then open UU... So to do this, you'll have to put your game into Windowed-Mode from the setup menu. Once it's in Windowed-Mode, all you have to do is open the console and your cursor will be free of JKA's grip. From there, you can start UU and it'll connect to JKA.

Okay here's where I'm at...

Everything works, accept my chatstyle... I have it like this:

PREFIX: ^0-=\ ^7
SUFFIX: ^0 /=-

However, it does not change my chatstyle in game... am I doing something wrong here?

Also, how do I set it to where I dont have to give cmds in the console, I can just type them in chat?

Okay when you get in game you just type !chatstyle <chatstyle's name here> in the chat and it should work.

Yeah, it's that it doesn't change when i give that cmd. Also even the chatcolor (1-0) doesn't work either. It says that it made the proper change, but my chat colors, style and ability to give cmds in chat do not work

Right. I can use the console, to execute commands, and they work (except chatcolor and chatstyle, despite it saying its changed).

I'm thinking, its and issue with the public chat itself, or the coordination therein. I don't know why it wont work it did before (years ago lol). Also everyone else has it working.

Jato, if you think re-installing my uu will fix it, by all means ill do it and try again. Do you recommend starting with 15 instead of 16? upgrading to 17 or no? what is the proper procedure? lol

Did you dl 17a or did you do an update through uu v16?
