Well, those of us actually ON the west coast have a few suggestions:
There is Disneyland in California, the San Diego Zoo is rather nice to visit, here in Oregon if you like hiking you could check out our various mountain trails as well as the Crater Lake in Jackson County, Portland is a lovely city to visit and you can check out the Golden Pioneer in Salem. Washington has nice mountains to check out too as well.
It would help if we knew exactly where on the west coast you are visiting

Honestly, visit some National Parks. Nature is far more interesting than concrete jungles

Having never been to USA myself I can only but agree with RVCA too.
In fact, you'd have to pay me, significantly, for me to waste my time with the man-made structures in what's otherwise such a beautiful country.

San Diego is a really nice place, right on the ocean and lots of stuff to do. There's the zoo there, and sea world too I think, as well as some sort of wildlife preserve or something where you can go on safaris and such (I think anyway. It's been a while since I was there). There's a town of sorts called La Jolla 10 minutes outside of San Diego where you can go kayaking, scuba diving etc. and rent all the necessary equipment.

Have to visit Lamar Valley in Yellowstone. Thats where you will see all of the wildlife, when I went last year, we saw bear (brown and black), moose, eagles, buffalo, coyotes, wolfs, tons of animals. On top of the landscape and the animals, its alot of fun!
