To change a Name: The Process. Also, a Wake
PostPosted:Mon Sep 03, 2012 10:03 pm
Greetings fellows,
So, as most of you know, I've changed my name THREE TIMES. Yes, I know how bad this sounds.
There is a common expression known to many who have read Patrick Rothfuss's "Wise Mans Fear", and "Name of the Wind",
It is called Chasing the Wind.
Chasing the Wind might mean going off in different corners of the world and trying to find yourself, or in the book, finding your name. You really have to read it to understand what I mean when I say "Name". So, in naming myself Wind, I initiated my Chasing, and I have indeed found something.
Deep inside myself I have a profound love for Thunder and Lightning, the smell and sense of a charge in the air, the dark, dismal look and feel of black clouds twisting in an evening sky. I love the Storm. I am Storm.
So, what better thing to name myself, other than the thing I love dearly, and race to witness. Which is also unraveling in booming applause above me as I type this
I am aware it will take substantially longer to change my name this time, as I've already poked the council three times in my haste of Wind Chasing. Naming one's self should not be rushed, however.
So yeah, that.
Also, on Thursday, Erins would-be birthday, she will have her Wake. I will not be online from noon until four or five, maybe later, maybe earlier, depending on events, and how long me and my family take to say goodbye. I will probably be very lugubrious and solemn. I will most likely have a very bad headache. Also, as I am believed to have a very strong spiritual connection to "Things", something weird might happen. Fair warning.
Thanks,
Wind (Or, hopefully soon to be, Storm)
