I replayed ruby a month or 2 ago and beat the entire league using nothing but a blaziken, so I'll have to go with Blaziken

To get to the subject of the thread, what is your favourite pokemon?..

Well...as far as my favorite goes...
It's gotta be the Charmander family. I actually got into the card game before anything else, and Charmander was my first card. Then when I got Red Version I chose him as my starter, and...yeah.
[nerd=activated]
Now as far as the best from the first three generations, you really have your pick of a couple of legendaries. It comes down to how you like to play the game. Best all-around stats would probably be a tie between Lugia and Mewtwo, depending on if you like Attack or Defense more.
Of course, Deoxys' forms focus on different stats, so you have your choice there (oddly, his normal form isn't that great at anything besides attack).
Also, you have Rayquaza who is a fantastic attacker, but lacks defense and takes 400% damage from Ice-type attacks.
But when it really comes down to it, if you don't like Lugia or Mewtwo, there's always Groudon and Kyogre. Both have pretty decent all-around stats (Groudon is more Attack and Defense and Kyogre is more Sp. Atk and Sp. Def) and only one type, which is more advantageous to them given their moveset.
Having said all that, the best all-around Pokémon from any generation is, hands down, Arceus. Base 120 on all stats, and one of the best movesets in the game. Sorry guys, but he just can't be beat
Now this looks like I've just chosen legendaries, but they're the best for a reason: they're legendary. There are a lot of other good Pokémon out there, but if you want the best, that's my two cents. Now, me personally, I don't use legendaries unless I'm battling someone that is. But if not, you can really build a great team from a bunch of different choices (I mean, common, there's 649!). If you have a good team with varied types, you'll be a formidable opponent

Caterpie!!!!!!!!!!..........just kidding, Totodile's family. The water types have been my starters since the dawn of time, so nostalgia, combined with the fact that he (fully evolved) can learn crunch (dark type for all those nice little dark type needs) and ice moves for those pesky plants. The ability to teach him surf and dive help out in battles, though I enjoy hydro pump.....
that being said, they generally have a good defense and attack, even though they sorely lack in speed.
When it comes to Legendaries, I rather enjoy Groudon because of his drought ability. This boosts his fire attacks, and if you teach him solarbeam, there is no charge time.
@ Fal: The only time I have beaten an Arceus was by cheaping out and using Darkrai, putting it to sleep, and then using nightmare. This drained hp really fast when paired with his Bad Dreams ability.
Okay, I'm done...

Really you just want to avoid using Pokémon with double weaknesses (Graveler and Rhydon both take 4x damage from Water and Grass-type attacks). Nidoking and Nidoqueen don't have any double weaknesses (both are Poison/Ground) but their stats leave something to be desired.
Rollout isn't an uncommon move though. There are a lot of Pokémon who learn that naturally.
If you're looking for a strong Ground-type, here are your choices:

Again, it all depends on what you look for in a Pokémon. Do you like defense or offense better?
To stick with Mad's original topic, for the first 3 generations I'd go with Donphan for pure attacking power (pretty good normal defense too, but crappy Sp. Atk and Sp. Def) and Claydol for Defense. If you want a good all-around Pokémon, go with Flygon (although 4x weakness to Ice).

I think he meant "What do you think?" as in since his name is Snorlax, his favorite pokadotman is Snorlax as well.

Oh. Well in that case, yes Snorlax is a pretty solid choice. Extremely bulky, great moveset (on top of an astonishing list of TMs and HMs it can learn). Only disadvantage is he's slow as crap, which is to be expected

Yeah but if he's slow as crap, bide is much more effective. Anyways my favorite pokemon would have to be Rayquaza, for being excellent in battles, with its powerful attacks and decent stats

Good point, although Snorlax cannot learn Bide in games from Generation III onwards. He doesn't learn it naturally and the TM for it was removed.
Not to mention, Bide has been tweaked to always move first (from Generation IV onward I believe).
Also, hai Evan
