Got a virus :(

I seem to be very unlucky. In that I always seem to get the same virus 
Its the Windows vista/7 security one. Where it ries to make to think its windows, and you have a virus. Then tries to make you pay $100 for 'windows pc protection'.
Does any1 know of a way to fix this? Ive been resetting my computer to factory defaults each time i get this virus. But im not sure on how to do that on my new laptop. Nor do i want to, and its hassle, and i lose alot of useless junk that i like to think is important.
