I was watching The Godfather, 1972 gangster movie, when I came across this fight scene. Something here seemed a bit theatrical, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Help anyone?

Obviously his arm was going faster than the speed of sound and the guy is reacting as his eardrums are shattered by the sonic boom

I was way off, I thought it was bad fight choreography - lucky I didn't say anything or I'd be looking like a fool now!!!
