Interesting characters/places

I saw this thread on the CoF forum that was quite successful, and thought it would be a good idea to try it here 
The game is this: We go down the alphabet and post an interesting character/place from a book/game/movie/rl with a picture and/or short description (No, you cannot post yourself -.-)
I'll start.
Amadeus Arkham
One of the best characters in Batman. Amadeus Arkham founded Arkham asylum to "cure the arterial filth at the heart of Gotham" after his wife and daughter were murdered by the Mad Dog. In his effort to help the insane, he himself lost his mind, murdered his patients, and killed his mother with a razor while wearing her dress, and was admitted to his own asylum. He died. The last words in his journal were "I pity the poor shades confined to the Euclidean prison that is sanity. All things are possible here and I am what madness has made me. Whole. Complete. Free at last."
