Test2

It's time for one of those... times... I randomly pick up a new skill. This time its mapping for Garry's Mod (HL2). (I'm a complete nub at this, only 2-3 days training with only a few hours a day. - Most time wasting on finding out how to make good light/add good doors.. x.x)

The map name is Test2, until I change it..

I will attempt to make a "RP/Zombie" map. I have plenty of ideas and inspiration of how the map will look, but that is a secret so far. However here are a few screenshots (no textures added except props and some decals)

Either way; I will be using this "thread" as a personal mapping log.

GTK Radiant (JKA mapping) is a wooden stick compared to Hammer (HL2 mapping) <.<

i have an idea..how about changing the weather condition i mean how about making the weather rainy and darker as if there could have a feeling that the undeads were coming =)
how does it sound

I plan to let the gamemode decide (I will add a default weather though, since not everyone using it will have weather ..hax.). Some gamemodes (usually RP) have their own weather system - if its compatible with the map. I plan to make it compatible, since this will (hopefully) be a RP/zombie map (Zombie part = You will have places to hide - at least until the zombies break down your door and eat your brains out!) lol


Also, here is the progress (I went to bed when I started compiling, was tired)
I made those with brushes, but I am now planning to learn how to get models ingame so I can simply (yes, simply!) model my own light poles, stop signs, etc. lol

More screenshots~ playing around with lighting (i havent added any lightpole's, the pole you see there is just so I know where to put lightpoles when im done with the model and found a way to import it1) - and i think I will make the map at "night" until I've added all lights needed - then I can just increase ambient and add a sun to make it day. Piece of cake~ <.<

I guess i better try to add more buildings to get the "city" feeling... in fact, I should build the "city" and add details later!!

i think u do better than this.i mean i dont say anything to city envirement but i think u should do ruined or the city in ruined that would be realistic in my opinion =)

Let's see if I understand correctly: You think the city is too perfect and you want it to be more "urban" and have used down buildings? <.<
I agree. However, I will add 'that' effect to textures. None of the textures you see will be used. It is just to give me an idea of how it will look~ >:D

replaced every single brush with the nodraw texture, and is no busy putting every texture manually. God, this must have taken me 1-2 hours.. Anyhow, I have also adjusted the light/shadows, to make it look more "realistic". There -will- be darkness in this map. Which mean you will either A: Use a flashlight or B: Turn on the light.
This is for Role playing purposes, and will make zombie hunts more interesting >:D
