Hello everybody!
I am sorry to bug with this, but I've got stuck in trying to solve this issue.
I've been using Windows Vista Home Premium kind of long time and all went just alright. Lately no idea why my computer never shut downs. I press shut down, it shows the Logging Off and Shutting down, computer is like "shut down" for 2 seconds and then all of a sudden turns on. I never can shut computer down, only way is the unplug button in back of my processor. I've tried updating up to date system drivers, BIOS, I checked for all malware, virus , cleaned registry from error ones , checked my system settings and nothing helped, truly nothing. I am not a professional in computer technology, so I got stuck and have no idea what to try next. So I please you all if you could help me with this issue, father warns me about reinstalling Windows, which I truly do not want.

Thank you for reading,
Wolferion

There are a few applications that when running can prevent the Operating System from shutting down.

The one that stands out the most to me is BobaFetts Ultra Utility, I find I have to manually terminate that before I can shut down.

I would suggest using the task manager to close all the applications and non-system processes (that is the Username is you and not System).

For a complete list of all running applications and services I recommend downloading ProcessExplorer by SysInternals. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96653.aspx It is so good that Microsoft purchased it from the developers (and no-one can fault M$ business model).

i would say check what u have installed since it happened, it could be u installed a program that makes vista have trouble shutting down. if so, tinker around with it until u can fix it or remove the app or use system restore back to a point where it worked.

also, there a registry edit that can make vista auto terminate any hanging programs before it trys to shutdown. i dont know what the command is, but google it and u should be able to find it.

I've checked my tasks and there's nothing I believe could cause it, same things I've used before. And Melissa, I'll check my BIOS settings once I get back home, I just came home for a check and have to run on a senior's prom now.
