2 As 2 Bs 5 Cs

not really sure its mattered in the end for me.. my college course is... OK.. not that good for real IT stuff..

So I am quitting and its a long story but CHantelle is leaving her working (moving on to bigger ocmpany and up an all)... they are going to contract out all the main server and network stuff she managed.. but since i been doing W/E there they asked if i wanted to work as the trainee on ite support tech..its experience after all and tehy will give me full training and eventually full pro Certs like my sis done which are worth more than degrees in IT world..

so word of advice - avoide betec in computing practitioners... its mostly theory!

Yea I vaguely remember having an Msn convo with you before and you mentioning about the Betec- but thanks for the advice ;)

Good to know your getting on well with work experience :)

I recentally did some work experience at my Mum's work. In the first week I developed a PHP and MySQL based guestbook from scratch and in the second week I designed a new interface for a script they were using (I can't tell you what it was because its covered under Data protection) but basically it was more graphic design / html / css. Its all good experience :)

I think she learnt more here in a week than she done in a whole year at college.

Still I think its good she is staying on here and for a salary experience and ultimateley better qualifications. To be honest she got lucky.

So its my last week here and where I wanted to be widning down and starting to offload my stuff ... its a case of giving her a crash course of everything.. except the servers and the network infastructure which would kill her atm.

Is that what you wanna do web design?? definateley get going in the right direction early on..

Thing with IT is you need to specialise.. youll see people tell you this later on.. although trying new things and other things is great but always have your background strenght...

I wrote and put in our company intranet website and wrote that,, definateley outside my comfort zone but i enjoyed it. but i obviously work towards my special strenghts as in larger companies you will be employed for your strenght and not what you can a bit of this and a bit of that.

good luck anyway, im sure you'll do great.

I don't know if it will be web-design. Its fairly low pay unless you work for a company and you need to be really good. I'm just experimenting with different things to find where I fit in best. But so far a compter systems analyist is where i'm heading.

System analyst is more my end of the scale for what you'd be looking at.

Although you might find alot of system analysts dont actually do the work. or i mean implenting or setting up as such, they more plan and stuff.. You'd still need to be quite skillful though and more than likeley get Pro Certs like an engineer / technitian or manager would as you woudl need to know the infastrutural aspects of whatever you are doing

Yea i've looked into it. When I applied for 6th form at my school they asked me what I was aiming towards as a future career so I have something to aim towards and I liked the sound of the work so I put it down :)

I remember my college years... i passed all my exams and qualifications. I have also done 2 apprentiships as well in the last two years. In college i did:

AVCE Double Award: Business Management - BB
AS: ICT - C
A Level: Design and Technology - Electrical Engineering - C
A Level: Psychology - B

And after i left i did the following:

National Vocational Qualification Lvl3 - Retail Operations - Distinction
National Vocational Qualification Lvl3 - Retail Management - Merit
Financial Services Authority - Business Specialist Advisor - Merit

The FSA one was more recent, about a month ago.

Good luck in your GCSE/A Levels/Degrees folks!
