ffxi wins in my book....basicly bc its not adicting enuf that you totallyegnore everything else in you life and become a vegetable stuck to your comp/quit work or school to play it for the rest of you life
WoW actually ruines ppls lives, thats why ill never touch it

WoW is like a virus that slowly eats away at your body until there is nothing left and then after that it goes for your loved ones and destroys them as well. actually i havent played it but if i did that would probably be what id say, oh yea and what is FFXI?

(ok i just got what it was like 5 seconds later lol)

Theres no best mmo.
All depends what you want out of a game
EVE online wins, if you want an mmo that is borderline space simulater
WoW wins, if you want a massive world, and nonestop action, and all-round brilliance.
Most of the time games like WoW are hated because people cant afford the weekly payments, or they go by what everyone else says.
WoW takes time, its a game that people play when your bored and have huge amounts of time (summer holidays)
Its not a game that you can pick up and play like counter strike or other mmos like guild wars.

FFXI is basicly the same only its made from japan instead of usa
FFXI u can also be one character and switch jobs instead of making a new character every time u wanna level a new job.
WoW and FFXI are both monthly cost and those 2 games are basicly fighting for more people. WoW only wins because they keep adding more and more stuff. FFXI has an update maybe every other week but its to fix problems. WoW adds stuff.

I find/ found WoW a bit cartoony! just not to my taste.. I just dindt get into it
Then again I didnt think Guild wars was particulary great in the graphics department..
Not that aestetics makes it that is..
I think you will always get a difference of opinion in these sort of things
I got into GWs but I found it all to much the same after a while.

i cannot stand mmorpgs and i dont know why. it seems like almost everyone loves them but i hate them. the fact that u have to sit there for 12 hours killing random stuff and walking around to level ur character 1 level up. id rather play a regular rpg with its own storyine than take alot more time and energy to build my own medicore storyline that i get bored of it 10 minutes....

I must admit when I look at games like Oblivion and such, from their RPG perspective I do realise that they are purely based around single player but when you compare the whole thing they are to the like of GWs and WoW I think graphically and functionally and well I just think they blow em out of the water.
I have heard although not played about EVE online, now what I have heard that offers something very good. similar to the classic ELITE but on a much wider scale..

Ultima Online was by far the best MMORPG to ever be made. Unfortunately, it's too old to be worth going back to. I'm talking pre-Diablo 2 graphics. I didn't fall too hard for Everquest, although I'm sure it was awesome, but I did take a liking to Dark Age of Camelot. I like the Warcraft lore, personally, which has more of a background than what they put into FFXI, although both games are pretty fun. The interface is a bit annoying on Final Fantasy, but the whole design of the game is a more complex, adult-like style, compared to World of Warcraft -- which is, unfortunately, riddled with a great deal of immature players and simplicities. I've played GW a bit, and I love the art in it, but the story is kinda... bleh. I felt a bit lost in it, and then just gave up entirely and enjoyed it for the gameplay and the fact that the guy who does Spike Spiegel's American voice acting does a character in the game. Also, RaVeN was running me through a bunch of stuff, which is always fun.

I don't really have a favorite, other than UO, so I think as a whole MMORPGs are pretty much on the same playing feel.

I wonder how long it would take to make an MMORPG with only one guy working on the job. I'll be back on server soon

I just found out that the original makers of Kotor not Kotor2 are making a new Kotor and it might be a mmorpg, if any of you have heard of this just give me a reply.

Been semihooked on WoW since release,it has gotten better now tho :p
Before that i was on EQ2 and before that SWG.Swg imo had the best class/proffesion tree in which you could do loads of fun combinations with a crafter and a melee fighter and loads of others.I ofc like star wars so that helped a bit making the game fun to play and that you also could build cities.Sadly it was laggy and buggy as hell, people could loose their houses and never get them back and stuff like that but still was a great game.
Now they are trying to make it more like WoW so they have lost probably 80% of their old players.
Everquest 2 was also good in it's way and to thoose who say WoW takes up alot of time i say EQ2 is worse where you need a group on almost every quest and the quest can take days and even weeks to complete lol but still a very good game.
All 3 of theese costs cash but if you can afford it i would say WoW is the best one as you can actually play it somewhat casual unless you wanna do raiding and be the top dog you have to say byebye to most other things :p
Flyff i never tried,i got my m8 to try it since i saw alot of people in here got hooked on it but he said he couldn't polay it cause of all the flyffy colours lol
Guild wars i never really tried but it seems like a pretty good game and doesn't cost anything,my comp and the devs didn't go along so my comp crashed when i tried it

Same devs btw for wnother mmo City of heroes/villians,seems pretty nice aswell but very time consuming as it takes time to lvl your char.
If you wanna try some mmo's that doesn't have the best gfx and aren't the biggest around i would suggest to check out Acclaim's site, they got a few free mmo's there that is easy to get.My m8 tried 9 Dragons which he said was really good, was a quest that was bugged so he quit tho but seems nice, martial artstype of game

Ok here goes a long response.
Guild wars,
Just to anybody who plays GW, i have a lvl 20 paladin with alot of materials, 4 green items, and around about 1000 silver brick whatever things, so if anybody wants help im always free

but im in spain, ugh lol.
World of warcraft,
Wand you get a "mode of transport" first at level 40. Once you reach level forty you pay around about 60-100 gold to get trainings for a steed and to buy a mount, this mount is 60% faster in speed than walking. At level 60 you can buy an epic mount, this is the fastest land mount, it goes at 100% faster speed than walking, it can cost about 700-1000 gold. At level 70, you can buy 2 kinds of air mounts, one is a normal flying mount, it goes about 100% speed on the ground, and 60% speed in the air. And you can buy an epic flying mount, this mount is 100% speed on the ground, and 260% speed in the air.
The flying mounts can only be used in Outland. Which isnt a server, but is a different continant, it was released in the expansion on "The Burning Crusade". It is for level 60-70´s.
For very experienced, and end-game raiders there is the ultimate mount. This is the mount Gotenks, or Poodoo (the ex-kr council and server runner) has. Yes, he has no life at all other than WoW. It is basicly a giant blue dragon which goes 100% speed on land and i THINK 300% speed in the air, it can also only be used in Outland.
I responded to your other topic about WoW itself for you so look at that when you can.
Tricky,
If you like UO, go ahead, but it isnt the best mmo ever. Its all down to taste. Personaly i wouldnt touch games like UO, because their so like other games like Runescape and Diablo. Everyone has a different taste in games, be it realism with Counter Strike and oblivion. Pure mindblowing greatness even in cartoony graphics like World of Warcraft.
Other people love sims, so they would think EVE online is the best thing ever created by anyone anywhere. Its all down to taste and saying things are just downright the best, is only in your opinion and doesnt apply to everybosy

ctually I been thinking about this and now im not so sure!!
KOTOR MMORPG would be maybe a bit shit, I mean The whoel universe of KOTOR was that you had your party with thier own background storey and world which you could get involved with and well could influence and train them etc...
Now it will be a 10 year old cocky idiot telling us how cool he is...
I cant help but think that KOTOR 3 should be SP!!! Only!! MMORPG will jsut not be as good since inheritly they arnt.

ill shoot anyone who tries to create kotor as an mmo. its way too muc fun to be ruined by being made into an mmo. im truely not sure which one i like better either, kotor 1 or 2. cuz kotor 2 is a lot more in depth, but kotor 1 had a much better storyline.....
even tho im so prejudice against mmo's, i might actually try EVE online, it truely looks interesting, but i probably wont have the attention span to level up any kind of character that much, im just too lazy

Well its not a fact that The new Kotor is going to be a mmorpg but it is a strong rumor, all that is for sure is that they are working on a new one. ill try to post a link but i first heard the announcment on G4tv.
