Oops. This was just brought to my attention. I didn't make the connection between saber touch (shave damage) and the parrying. Still, it should be off by default. I was researching some other server settings when I noticed that one, so I set it back to how it should of been. Sorry for the confusion.

Let me know if we actually do wish the non-default setting for this please.

What's wrong with the parrying?

I would actualy prefer parrying on
Since im just starting to improve parrying
And also i think that saber touch is pretty much the main defense

As water mentioned on that post. Saber touch makes the parry rate on dualies and staff more OP, and with single saber touch, you don't even need to try to do anything. That's why it's off by default and hence why almost majority of the servers don't use it. So I prefer it off.

I think I would prefer it on because of the arguments in the topic below, namely that yes, it does increase the parry rate and thus makes the server more friendly to/easier on newer players so they don't get destroyed constantly and rq.

It just makes me think if its off then Single is OP since with red nothing could block it but with it on with dualies in the hands of someone like Skull its almost an umbreakable defense

Parry hasn't been removed, it still works. The difference is it works when you plan to use it, as opposed to it being applied automatically (at least, that's what I am guessing the saber touch also does). If you don't know how to parry then ask your master!

right, WE know that, and most experienced players do I would guess, but the newbies will just get destroyed :S

To be fair, parry isn't something I train my padawans until they are Adept. I wouldn't expect a new player to know parry, any more than they would know delays or poke - other skills which I consider adept level. It's not like they are being slapped in the face because an advanced move which they don't know about isn't happening when it is not supposed to for them.

No, of course they aren't being slapped in the face; I was just looking to save them a bit of frustration. I think in the other topic you said something skin to "it's flattering to a new player to not lose 100/100 to pros constantly." A few random parries here and there won't make a new player great all of a sudden, or an experienced player bad; all it does is allow the new guy a small break here and there.

Still might as well give ot a chance now. Of things are too messed up after a bit of time a case can be made to reappeal it :)
