The video pretty much says that google cromes voice recognition stuff can be easily exploited be by malicious sites or the government to spy on us.

This lol, but its been around for a while john, they also have the ability to tap mics on phones, activate cameras, and so on and so forth without even powering a device. Kinda cool until you realize theyve been watching you O.o

I've been staying out of this topic for a while, but I'd just like to point something out - all companies are required by law to give certain information to the government. Google, however, along with various other big-name companies are heavily against certain aspects of information sharing. If you don't like that - don't use the internet. Unfortunately the sources (notice "source" is plural) from which I know this I do not have anymore, but if you want I can try and find them. Now I'm not saying this video is wrong, I didn't feel like watching it, just don't base your entire view of something off a YouTube video.

If it means that they're going to stop a bombing, war, attack, whatever - then I'm okay with it.

"But my privacy, wah wah wah-"

No one cares about the fact that you got a nose job, go to strange websites, buy adult sized baby clothes, have an addiction to canned green beans, blah blah blah. Again, the internet is what you make out of it - if you're using it, you have to understand there may be consequences.

Not to get radical but some would argue that a country that would sacrifice freedom for security will receive niether.

Freedom is just an illusion. It can never really exist.

The government is doing what it's suppose to do. If you are legitimately using the internet then this shouldn't be a problem. However, if you are looking up videos on how to make c4 explosives to blow up a Walmart then you should be mad about the government watching your history. The internet should be monitored (not heavily though like some countries where they censor a lot!) because it's too open and can be heavily abused.

Yep. My opinion on the matter.

Not entirely sure how this has gotten to about the internet, but that's not the main issue here. The issue is that google cromes voice recognition software remains activated even after you think it is off and the microphones can be used to listen in on people in homes or wherever. A little different then just internet monitoring. Personally, I don't feel overly affected or surprised as I don't use crome or have a built-in microphone on my machine. Whether you like it or not living in the age of electronics and using them sacrifices a lot of freedoms.

my 2 cents is this: When it becomes more than just "meta data" when every american has a file and when ur life is recorded (wether its gps in ur phone to see ur daily routine, convos you have day to day in range of any mic you own, video through ur own camera ect) its going to far. Could argue farther on that with scources ect but this is old news, the point is do you really want to get to the point where "big brother" is watching you? Everything happens in steps, even Hitler's rise to power was slow (not calling our government Hitler im just using it as a reference to show that even a radical like him had to take his time to get where he was going)
