Greetings people! I am sure 90% of you probably don't even know me; and the other 10% don't remember me; so I am trying to remedy that...!

I figure; the first step is to make JKA work (had a few "issues").

JKA (standard, default) has a horrible 4:3 ratio (I believe), and I am wondering if anyone know of a way to make it 16:9. (1920x1080, etc.).

I am also wondering if there are any "texture upgrades" or "graphical upgrades" that removed the FPS cap (even though it says 200+ in the corner; It's lying. You can clearly see un-smooth movement when turning the camera.

I am also looking into investments that will improve my ping; by improving the routing from A to B (A is me, B is the server), but I dont think I am going... I don't know yet. Maybe I can live with some of you? (semi-joke, currently at college so I couldnt even if I wanted too).

Any and all JKA optimizations are welcome!

I assume you know that having FPS > packets is kinda pointless, it'll just be client-side smoothing. Also, no human can see FPS > 150, any more just causes hitch warnings (processing thread losing sync with rendering thread). Nevertheless, I think OpenJK doesn't cap the cvars and uses long ints not short ints for all of them.

As I said though, I haven't tried any of these!

I am having some issues. JA+ is not showing up. Do I have to put japlus folder inside OpenJK's folder or something? Hmm...

Actually; it is showing up. The saber textures just wont load. I get empty dark boxes instead of a lightsaber. I suspect OpenJK is not compatible...

Perhaps I downloaded the wrong version of JA+? Where can I get the latest version (that the server is compatible with)?

Well, I am using a new update of JA++ from jkhub, and openjk helps from Razor, and I didn't have a problems like you've mentioned a problems as well, a after he helped me with a siege issues, if you know where the openjk link, you should put dll's and openjk folder in gamedata, that includes openjk folder that contains several dll's in there, and I am not sure if the old version of JA+ or JA++ plugins will makes it works. I just got a new update from jkhub and replaced it and it works fine for me. So, I'll try to help as the best as I can as possible :)

Its possible (with the ja+ issues) that you didn't put it's .pk3 in the \base\, specifically japlus_gla_anims.pk3 - or some existing .pk3's are killing the shaders or have overwritten the .sab files, or somesuch.

The japlus_gla_anims are in the /base/ folder, and i only have one other "foreign" pk3 which I have tested without.
Going to try JA++ now - hopefully that will work!


There we go! After replacing the old JA+ with JA++ - everything works smoothly! No more missing texture boxes! :D
Thanks for the help
